I have read some of Bir's earlier posts and the fact that the GCs on this forum and the actions of the ROC and GCs in his village have managed to change his perspective should be a cast iron message for everyone

I have read it and it is interesting. let me ask you as question that is not loaded, given that the TMT was the most effective risistance to enosis do you not feel that they had a major part to play in your cypriot identity and the cypriot identity that hopefully Tc like myself will one day feel.

I feel I have to add to my above post, firstly I feel Turkish cypriot before turkish but I agree with you GR that for cyprus to united we must not feel turkish cypriot or greek cypriot we must just feel cypriot, but this identity has been taken away from us (the TCs) by a variety of factors including Turkey but more so the ROC. So how do we make this right?

Don’t you see the irony of the son of a TMT “regional commander” who had spent many a night guarding weapons, dropping in from time to time to accuse CF members today (many of which were not even born pre 74) that they are the Cyprus problem and should pay for their sins?

GR I will answer this honestly and you may dislike me for doing so, but for me The TMT protected my family when they were forced to flee from their homes. They (the TMT) may have done bad things to GCS and even to cyprus as a whole (i dont know if they did - but I know a lot of GC feel this way so I feel that there must be some truth in it- I dont know what they did exactly but I am open to fact that they were not angels) but for the majority of Tcs that I have spoken to the TMT honestly were seen as their protectors. Even those outside my family that I have spoken to - have stated that the the TMT protected them from very real danger.

Even those that I have spoken to in the TRNC that strongly believe that the the homes should be returned to the Gcs (not compensation etc -just restitution) believe that the TMT protected them in the past.

in fact I have even spoken to an individual who knew of a Turkish general (from turkey) that came over during 63-74 and although he was a bastard to the TC community the overall 'work' of the TMT in face of almost nightly attacks is still appreciated.
