Twenty years ago I had the police asking me why hand't I put broken glass in cement along the top of a wall to keep burglars out like all my neighbors had? So I smashed up some bottles, got a bag of ready mix, and did. I can't say they encouraged me to do it, but they sure as hell told me they wouldn't do anything about it if I did.
