Perhaps Erdogan might return the 'Al-Gaddafi International Prize for Human Rights' that he recently received from the Libyan leader...

    :? :? :? :? :? :? :?

Wiki will do for a ref... it says...

..."The Al-Gaddafi International Prize for Human Rights is an annual prize founded by and named after Libyan leader Muammar al-Gaddafi.
The Al-Gaddafi International Prize for Human Rights was established in 1988 by Muammar al-Gaddafi who initially granted 10 million US$[citation needed] to the Swiss-based foundation North-South which awards the prize. According to its website, the prize is awarded to one of the "international personalities, bodies or organizations that have distinctively contributed to rendering an outstanding human service and has achieved great actions in defending human rights, protecting the causes of freedom and supporting peace everywhere in the world".[1] The sum of the prize money is US$250,000 (in case of several recipients the prize money is shared). The prize has attracted controversy over its selection... "

and our Hermes is quite right, it was awarded to...

"... 2010 Recep Tayyip Erdoğan .... " ....... known for his support of human rights and freedom everywhere .... unless you're a CY living under the Turkish Occupation of course.

Something to do with certain comments directed at Israel presumably.

The French Connection

Postby merrytraveller » Mon Feb 21, 2011 11:07 am

I know that we in the West are to blame for all the emerging countries ills, but specifically, the French are keeping very quiet at the moment. Who was it who helped Gaddafi to overthrow King Idris in 1970? Yes it was the French who supplied the vital arms support when everyone else got chucked out - including 'yours truly.'

Gaddafi's choice of bodyguards has been the subject of much media attention. His 40-member bodyguard contingent, known as the Amazonian Guard, is entirely female. All women who qualify for duty supposedly must be virgins, and are hand-picked by Gaddafi himself. They are trained in the use of firearms and martial arts at a special academy before entering service.

I'll find jobs for them!

They look like a bloody circus!

Gaddafi’s prediction in March 2008…

US allies could suffer Saddam's fate: Gaddafi

Libyan leader Moamar Gaddafi has warned Arab allies of the United States that they could meet the same fate as former Iraq president Saddam Hussein, hanged in 2006 three years after the US-led invasion.

[World Medical Camp Libya]

Dear all

We are a group of Libyans based in the UK and abroad who have established a charitable organisation called the World Medical Camp for Libya (WMCL) to respond to the urgent and immediate medical needs in Libya.

We write this letter to ask for your help in addressing what has now become an unbearable situation in Libya, where for the past week we have seen unrelenting military attacks against innocent and unarmed Libyan civilians.

Eyewitness reports to this effect have been trickling out from Libya and the death toll appears to be slowly mounting with reports of nearly 1,000 casualties(Italy's foreign minister, 23/02/11). Sources on the ground have reported that the situation is dire with hospitals in Tripoli, Benghazi and elsewhere in eastern Libya lacking the basic medical supplies and equipment to treat the injured.

Your donations will allow us to deliver aid directly to hospitals in Benghazi as well as to other eastern towns including Derna, Bayda, and Tobruk, where reports have been received of a greater number of injuries. We will use a wide network of well-established local contacts in Marsa Matrouh (near the Egyptian-Libyan border) and Tobruk who are experienced in the logistics of transporting cargo across the Egyptian border into Libya.

Representatives on the ground are receiving the medical supplies in Egypt and co-ordinating the transportation arrangements so the supplies can be delivered as soon as possible. The representatives will also lead the convoy to its final delivery points in Libya and identify additional needs.

These efforts to provide medical humanitarian aid to Libya need to continue and we appeal to you for urgent cash donations. With the news of more and more lethal attacks on unarmed civilian population being reported on an hourly basis, we would respectfully implore you to treat our appeal for assistance with urgency.

Gaddafi's son joins Libyan protesters

The youngest son of the embattled ruler Muammar Gaddafi has joined the pro-democracy protesters in eastern Libya as the outpouring of rage against Gaddafi remains unabated, reports say.

Reports say Saif al-Arab, Gaddafi's youngest son, who was sent by his father to cooperate with Libyan security forces in the massive crackdown on pro-democracy protesters joined forces with the demonstrators on Thursday, while hinting that his father would commit suicide or flee to Latin America.

According to reports, Saif al-Arab had the backing of combat troops and had military equipment that were dispatched to the eastern parts of turmoil-hit Libya.
