I see is almost impossible stick on topic
As we talk about international law and Israel is not among the countries that have signed the 1982 Montego Bay I repeat that not a drop of gas can be extracted until they decide. Some other country have not yet acceded to the Convention, among them: Eritrea, Iran, Israel, Libya, USA and Turkey.
So keep in mind Israel is not a signatory to the Convention of Montego Bay and Lebanon as "business associates" Iran and Syria what do you aspect in the nearly future?
I obviously hope that this will be resolved in a short time, so Cyprus will finally become independent. The ground is slippering...now they talk of 2012
UPDATE 2-Noble Energy to speed drilling for gas off Cyprus

NICOSIA, Feb 16 (Reuters) - U.S. energy company Noble Energy Inc (NBL.N: Quote) will expedite plans to drill for natural gas off Cyprus, where it believes there is a sizeable quantity, an executive said on Wednesday.
Noble has a concession to explore for hydrocarbons in an offshore field south-east of Cyprus. It made major gas finds off neighbouring Israel in 2009 and last year.
"Our intention is to accelerate the drilling of the well," said Terry Gerhart, vice president of international operations at Noble.
"Hopes are to be able to start the well as early as the fourth quarter of 2011 or possibly slipping into 2012," he told reporters in Nicosia.
He said there was no precise estimate of what Noble could find in the Cypriot block. "The structure that we can tell from seismic (data) is very favourable to be a sizeable quantity," he said.
Exploration work off Cyprus will be the first attempt by the east Mediterranean island to tap hydrocarbon reserves.
The prospect of potential hydrocarbon wealth appears to have prompted a rethink of Cypriot plans to find a natural gas supplier for its energy needs.
Nicosia had held a competitive negotiation process last year, with Shell making the most competitive offer at around 4.5 billion euros ($6.1 billion) for 20 years' worth of supplies.
The deal has not yet been concluded. "Any decision will carefully weigh up our vital (national) and public interests," said government spokesman Stefanos Stefanou.
Cypriot officials say the block, known as "Block 12", holds an estimated 10 trillion cubic feet. Noble's Leviathan field off Israel was described in 2010 as the biggest of the decade with an estimated quantity of 16 tcf.
Tamar, another field off Israel, holds an estimated 8.6 tcf. The Cypriot block is about 34 kms away from Leviathan, and 60 from Tamar.
Noble had discussed with Cypriot authorities options about how to bring any finds from the Cypriot field to the island, including the option of constructing a pipeline, Gerhart said.
