"TRNC" bankruptsy, the aftermath.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

"TRNC" bankruptsy, the aftermath.

Postby georgios100 » Mon Feb 14, 2011 6:17 pm

Surely no one expects the "TRNC" to file for bankruptcy, Erdogan is too proud to let that happen with the elections in the horizon.

Looking at the long term, the financial situation in the north does not look promising. The occupying Turkish troops continue to strangulate the TC community from the outside world playing the "protector" role. But how much longer can this go on? Can the TCs "see" the blink future ahead? When the situation gets worse, I see civil unrest, increase in crime and poverty rising to dangerous levels. Perhaps a "rush" to the south for a better life might force the RoC to close the borders. Furthermore, I see the occupying troops turning against the TC uprising to control the unrest.

The RoC can only sit back & watch since it has no control over the north. Should the TCs expect or demand help from the RoC? They might... The RoC should stand firm.

I believe and many others that the only real hope left for the the re-unification of the island is if the majority in the south actually get up en-masse along with the us in the 'North'. This would send the most powerful message not only to turkey but to the rest of the world. We all know the talks and the UN is a smokescreen, so far I have seen no evidence of that, apart from various small Trade Unions but its not enough. The genuine peace seeking TC's are quite simply not strong enough to put fear into the heart of Erdogan and his cronies. You guys in the south are too comfortable and with elections coming up why would anyone want to upset the balance?

Sorry I so disagree with this post. The TC's are yet again throwing responsibility on others for their own situation. The peace loving TC's have an option. If they don't like what is happening in the regime they support, they have the choice to apply to the Turkish Property trust to have their homes retuned to them. They can also get a job in the free areas if they are not in one and start a new life. Many Cypriots had to leave post 74 for a new start elsewhere, the TC's only have to travel a few km south and it can all be theirs.

I agree with your post.

The GCs have an opportunity to show solidarity.

I guess the GCs still need to be convinced about your motives.

Absolutely, what are the motives?... where is the end game?..... all we have heard so far is removal of settlers and the TA, all very nice am sure ....... then what?

A constituent state on 30+% of CY ... and on other people's lands... with the usual racist demarcations?????? Turkish Guarantee????

Reh Jahitty, would be happy to show solidarity, .... but people need to know where this is going first.

Many of us (GCs) still want the unification more than ever for various reasons. Others are not so keen at it. A small percentage just don't care anymore. Definitely, we all understand, RoC is powerless to force Turkey out of Cyprus. Only Turkey itself, under Erdogan, can do that but at a cost, face saving being the biggest one.

It would appear both communities on this island are pawns in a bigger game with Turkey the main player.

As the situation worsens, the TC community must take steps to prevent the imminent collapse. The TC leadership must stand up to Ergogan and demand action to resolve the problem in lieu of playing the waiting game based on Turkey's "moves". The economic starvation & the settler overrun are clear signs of what's to come. You guys are systematically wiped off the face of Cyprus, already a minority in your own homeland, risking total extinction.

The RoC is waiting to see what the TC leadership is prepared to do. So far, nothing positive...

Not sure what you are saying here. Please expand? Go where?

I sometimes think that if I was rich enough to buy a Greek Island off the coast off Turkey I would donated it to the TC's. LOL given that you have no attachment to the land. Any old Island will do.

They will do nothing as the alternatives are more unacceptable.
