"TRNC" bankruptsy, the aftermath.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Dear Kikapu

The ideology in Greek Cyprus has been to avenge the insult of the Turkish invasion. This hateful ideology is nourished by the state, the Greek Orthodox Church, the schools, the army and the news media. It derives from genuine grievances, but does not offer genuine solutions. In the north, the older generation of Turkish Cypriots remembers their gross mistreatment in the 1960s and cling to an ideology of safety-through-separation.

So before any political ideology there has to be effort to deconstruct and dissolve these ideologies for your vision of true democracy to work and that’s a very long long way away.

That is why it is essential to have two sovereign states each administration representing each community this way power will not be lost and both communities are safeguarded while trust can be built over years.

Over 50 years we have not had a single government G/C or T/C whose political ideology has not had some ethnic influence, and don’t forget politics is all about money so it will only take for example a few wealthy G/C entrepreneurs to sway the ideology or laws of a certain party in favour of the wealthy. Once the scale starts to sway it will be very nervous times.

At the moment Cyprus has the plan but not the thirst. Also remember great countries of federation never started from a federation but a confederation like Australia for example it was years and years after trust and unification it became a federation with a single governing body for Australia, we have no trust, no united trust fund or deals to even have a glimpse of hope of one political party representing both communities equal in a true democracy.

The problem is that the TC community doesn’t have what it takes to create, sustain, and hang onto such a state, and after 36 years it doesn’t look like the RoC or Turkey is interested in helping them out with that either!

So under the circumstances does the TC community have a plan B besides begging?

Personally I am not interested in Plan B but we can't go on forever with this division. The T/C have had enough and I am afraid if plan b in an ideal world was presented to the T/C community tommorow they will vote in favour because it may be the only light at the end of the tunnel with no other option.

I believe in one island one identity with the Greek Cypriot community to be administrated by the G/C administration and government and vice-versa for the T/C. We can sustain a state we have been doing so for 37 years under isolation. The unfortunate circumstance is that if such a solution was provided it will have to be a transition until the economy of the T/C will be balanced with the South an influx of FDI will flow quickly and new markets will open. Once the ball starts rolling then we can only look towards the future at the moment that ball is not going anywhere.

Have you crossed the border lately?

But let's just say I take your view for a moment and forget about the last 37 years and I say we will start from tommorow a new sovereign state, (T/C administration) why do you find it hard that it cannot be achieved? Remember former Yugoslavia now with several break away countries has formed (Bosnia & Kososvo) same can be said for the former U.S.S.R and now South Sudan. Sure, there are differences but the bottom line is poor or rich these countries are standing on there own two feet.

If you find that hard to register dont forget Palestine State which Mr Christofias recognised. North Cyprus has already an airline, different economy, laws, governments, unions.... which would take South Sudan years to accomplish however the difference is that it is recognised so international aid and investment will quickly flow into the country.

Maybe you can elaborate why you don't believe T/C can sustain a state or have not been over 37 years?

At the same time if you don't think we have sustain a state last 37 years or think we cannot sustain a state then ask Mr Christofias to remove the embargoes/resolutions/isolation and give the T/C a trial run :). I think deep down you know that if that was to happen your theory to your question would become invalid.

Remember I don't want to see a complete seperation of states I would like to see a united Cyprus under two administrations looking after their own communities. So for example the oil wealth can be shared.

You got it all wrong. Australia has always been a Federation since 1901 and prior to this existed 6 British Colonies which later become the 6 States and 2 Territories of what then became The Commonwealth of Australia on Federation Day.

There was never any mistrust between the colonies. In fact all 6 colonies were British possessions. There was never any need to "build trust" between these Colonies or The United Kingdom! The Australian Colonies were very British and Australia has an extensive British History and Inheritance even to this day. Even after Federation, Australia remained part of the British Empire as a Dominion, and even retained the Monarch as Head of State. The very same Monarch or Crown is referred to as the Australian Crown, so in effect Australia share the same Crown with the United Kingdom as do other independant nations!

You don't know what you’re talking about I'm afraid!

I am afraid you are all wasting your time and energy, but you obviously have plenty of both...The game is over...The TCs will never bite the hand that fed them for so long...Listen to what VP is telling you,and don't attack him like vultures because you want to believe that there is something positive in this for the GCs...

You can take great satisfaction, for your long practised political manouvers have worked very well...You have managed to convince the world (and yourselves) that the TCs had nothing to fear, they were willing participants in Turkey's expantionist policies, that they were out to gain on your losses...You convinced yourselves that the TCs were lazy loafers, without an ounce of royalty to their homeland,or any attachment to their ancestral lands...You kept calling them all the names under the sun,and NOW you expect them to run to you with open arms,as if nothing has happened, and kick the country they consider their only lifeline to the world in the guts...What are you people on??? I would like to have some too... :?

Oh don't worry! We are under no illusions.

We don't expect the TCs to do anything. They are welcome to remain as they are. Enjoy!

We have more important matters to deal with at present.
