"TRNC" bankruptsy, the aftermath.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

They will do nothing as the alternatives are more unacceptable.

The alternatives are humiliation, bankruptcy and extinction under Turkish domination. Or dignity, freedom and a share of the wealth of the ROC.

It's clear that some die-hard racists such as VP will never be able to live in a unified ROC and would rather retreat into life on a reservation in a futile gesture of communal suicide.

But the more intelligent T/Cs realize they are in a battle for survival. Erdogan has made his move. He has thrown the gauntlet down to the T/Cs and dared them to defy him. Let's see if they have the balls...

It is no matter of balls. It is a matter of dignity & common sense. As all Cypriots do, they have the right dose of dignity, but tCypriots need to realize that a unifying proposal awaits a well thought out answer. In 1963 they made the mistake of letting Turkey answer. Will thy now have the common sense to provide it themselves?

It takes courage to stand up for your rights and dignity. T/Cs have been compliant for many years in their own shame and degradation. I hesitate to say they have woken up as their conscience has been easily bought in the past. It's too early to say if this is a sea-change in T/C's relations with Turkey. But it is a new development. In the past, T/Cs have had neither common sense nor courage. Now they see which way the wind is blowing and they have to choose. The unknown is how severely Turkey will respond to continuing protests which challenge its authority in the north.

Would that be similar to the Greeks in Greece when they rioted against the Greek government economic measures?

I don't buy that at all. You are always ready to point out your concerns but you are not willing to demand changes that would do away with your concerns that would also be acceptable to the other side. You problem is, you are not ready to give up on your Taksim Dreams, is the reason why you want to retain ethnically divided political parties. Don't blame good solutions based on Democracy and Human rights as being faulty and untrustworthy. Blame them on you wanting to keep Cyprus divided in anyway possible, and wanting ethnic political parties is just one of them.

Neither side is mature or ready for such a move, can you answer this question honestly maybe difficult for you but please try. Can a political ideological party be manipulated by either ethnic group to favor one community more than the other? or can one ethnic group be excluded with just a symbolic presence?

I need to go, but will get back to your question if you want to discuss it furthermore.

Basically in a word, No, political parties based on political ideologies cannot be manipulated to favour one ethnic group over another when political parties based on ideology are made up of all ethnic groups, specially in today's world and Cyprus being in the EU.

But feel free to tell me what those manipulations could be that you may fear so that we can discuss them.!
