Welcome Jahitty.

Spot on mate .... just leave out the ref to "tcs" please mate, this is a time for unity.

Pres X must show the bravery shown by a great many CYs living under the Turkish Occupation and speak up in their support.

All we have had from Pres X so far is cracking a joke with Errorgluey about the events... it won't do... he has to show some pollocks, take the bull by the horns and condemn the accusations and actions against CYs by Erdogan and the other Turkish ministers.

President Christofias urged Turkey to listen to the voice of the Turkish Cypriots and especially to their basic demand, to withdraw its troops from Cyprus and let Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots decide freely upon their common future.

[...]

But he pointed out that the government of Cyprus is interested in what is happening in the occupied areas and among the Turkish Cypriot community, noting that they are equal citizens of the Republic of Cyprus just like the Greek Cypriots, the Maronites, Armenians and Latins.

“Turkey should listen to the voice of the Turkish Cypriots who are demonstrating and to their basic demand, which is to withdraw its troops from Cyprus. Ankara must go to Ankara, and by this I mean that Turkish troops should return to Turkey and let Cypriots, Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, decide freely upon their future, in the framework of a bizonal, bicommunal federation”, he stressed.

Christofias needs to tread carefully and support the T/Cs without giving weight to accusations by Turkey as being behind the protests.

As one commentator said in Simerini today, there are some practical steps we can take:

Expand the channels of communication with the Turkish Cypriots. Remind them of the merits of institutions of the Republic. Also, to see if we can help with European financial support. Always through the institutions of the Republic. Let's see if we can mobilize European political processes to highlight the dimension of occupation and reinforce the divide Turkey - Turkish Cypriots.

At a policy level, the same commentator goes on to argue that:

Even the Turkish Cypriots sometimes invoke the symbols of the Republic. It therefore is suicide to hasten solutions to the dissolution of the Republic in a system of covert Turkish custody.... [Also] when you hear the loudest Turkish Cypriot voices, we need to realize how foolish and dangerous it is to accept the right of the settlers to stay.

Well firstly you need to stop saying things like when will Christofias speak up for TC's.

Christofias speaks for the Cypriot people. So when you start referring yourself as a Cypriot you may get representation.

Secondly, when you send him formal letters and petitions stating the help that you require and so long that help and support does not deny any other Cypriot's human rights then he will know how to respond.

If the Cypriots currently in the occupied area of Cyprus have had enough of their Turkish occupier then you need to form petition and freedom groups that let both Mr Christofias what you are seeking and secondly inform the world that you no longer wish to be under the orders of the Turkish Army.

Good luck in your struggles for freedom.

Yeah, this is good ain't it? For the last 37 years the GCs have been nothing but evil murdering bastards and Turkey was smelling of roses.

No sooner does she now turn on you, suddenly you remember the GC and the ROC and ask them to come save your arse.

You got yourselves into this shit, you can get yourselves out of it.

Your mates VP, ZAN, Birk, et al, will not agree with your whinging and will probably call you a traitor. Either way you can sod off.

I’m surprised you expect the RoC government to support the TC community’s gripes against Turkey which essentially revolve around the privatization of regime-controlled institutions!

Either way, it’s still an illegal occupation for the RoC and that’s why they don’t care. Besides, did you see anyone demonstrating in support of…
