Lets start GR what do you have in your life that I do not?

It’s a matter of quantity, quality, and variety.

Quality and variety are way ahead of quantity so let start and compare what it is the so called promised land has to offer that we are missing out on.

It follows that if the average income of a RoC resident is 2-3 times higher than that of a “TRNC” resident, then properties like quantity, quality, and variety would also be proportional.

Have you seen the quality of homes in the North? would you say they are way below those of the south. I have visited a few homes in the south and they are no different in fact we have many properties with brilliant views and environmental advantages that you have less off in the south. You appear to be avoiding the issue here your income maybe higher but your outgoings are also in comparison, are you any better off than those living in the UK or Norway for example? the quality of life is important for me, which starts with peace of mind, environment and bring up your children in the best way possible. You text book experts appears to have choked on your own vomit and are unable to supply concrete examples of what we are supposed to be missing out on in the promised. Ill give you something to think about if you live in the UK your text book tells you that salaries are higher therefore you can afford more but offset this with being stabbed for the chnage in your pocket which would you choose?

If all is equal then, why the request for the need to bring up the north's economy to the South.?? Were you not complaining not too long ago that derogation's are required for many years to bring the north's economy up, just so that the GCs do not buyout the TCs in the north.??

Clearly, derogations are not necessary according to VP.

Like? can you pin point anything we are missing out on in our daily lives? what is it you GCs enjoy that we cannot have?

Absolutely nothing!

No problem VP. The TCs have the exact same standard of living as others in the third world!

I have been asking you the same question for a very long time which you never wanted to answer it. Now, you have to also consider, many in the north are living rent free in GCs houses, therefore, at least 25%-30% of their earnings in the north by these people is not paid in rent or mortgages. Many TCs also made a lot of money easy money by selling GCs properties to foreigners and got the money and homes that way. What are they going to do when the GCs come to get their properties back and these people move into the new north territory once it has been realigned and need to start over with much higher costs. It is no wonder the north does not want a settlement but a partition, just because they think they can keep most of the GCs properties without having to pay for them. Overall, the "trnc" does not have very much capital of it's own in the north, because most of it belongs to the GCs.

You may not have registered this fact but I have always supported that all refugees get a closure on their properties but this is very unlikly to happen as I cannot see a solution but if on the off chance a miracle does happen then those that have benefited will have to pay the cost.

I'm just giving you the "skinny" on the economy in the north and the one in the south. One (north) is a "False Economy" and the other (south)is not.! You cannot make an comparison, just because all things are not equal, and looks like it's to get worse for the north if Turkey wants to align the north's economy to be in-line with the one one in Turkey. More bad times are ahead for the north, I'm afraid!

I prefer to think of it as the good days are over and a certain part of the population in the north has to come back to reality. If a couple working in government posts can have 2 cars 2 homes 2 holidays a year and private school education for 2 children then surely it begs the questionhow is it possible? Add to this that the majority not all of government workers only work 50% of the expected capacity then you can understand why Turkey is annoyed and trying to curb spending. I personally would go even further so that the TRNC is financially self sufficent therefore giving it the benefit of a more independent and effective government.

So why all the complaints about "embargoes" and "isolation" having an adverse affect on your "economy" then?

There are three reasons the standard of living in the north have increased over the last decade.

1. The ability of the TCs to work in the ROC since the crossings opened.
2. The "profit" from the sale our land to carpetbaggers.
3. Increased support from Turkey in the form of cheap labour and "loans".

But

TCs cannot rely on work in the ROC with world economies in recession
You can only sell our land once , and the property market in the north has all but collapsed. Where will your next wad come from to replace your ageing BMW?
Turkey is cutting your financial support - watch your standard of living tumble. Your next holiday will be in the Karpas with the donkeys.

VP you are one confused person, one minute you are poor downtrodden embargoed victims of the GCs - the next minute you have everything you want. Make up your mind will you!
