ELDERS TO SUPPORT THE RELEASE OF THE DOCUMENTARY

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

ELDERS TO SUPPORT THE RELEASE OF THE DOCUMENTARY

Postby halil » Thu Feb 10, 2011 9:41 am

ELDERS DELEGATION WAS IN CYPRUS TO SUPPORT THE RELEASE OF THE DOCUMENTARY :!:

A documentary film on missing persons in Cyprus, called ‘Cyprus: Digging in the Past in Search of the Future’, was promoted in the buffer zone with a special event last night. The Chair of the Elders Group- Archbishop Desmond Tutu and a member of the Group- Dr. Gro Brundtland, who made contributions to the film, attended the event.

The documentary, that was prepared in cooperation with the Committee on Missing Persons and the Cyprus Friendship

Programme, narrates the story of a TC and a GC who found a common experience after their fathers went missing.

Speaking at the event, Archbishop Desmond Tutu expressed the hope that the documentary will contribute to the solution process being maintained on the island, as it provides an example to inter-communal friendship and dialogue.

Yesterday, the Elders delegation also met with Derviş Eroğlu and the Demetris Christofias to discuss the current phase of the Cyprus negotiations process.

This had been the fourth visit by the Elders to the island.

These programs are just a great holiday they serve absolutely no purpose as the children once they return to Cyprus carry on with theit normal lives on a DIVIDED island, the groups dont even meet once they are back in the TRNC and South Cyprus.

...amazing just the same, don't you think vp?

no one was murdered, no fighting broke out, none of them say anything indicating the animosity which you portray. who is to say friendships did not blossum, who is to say as time goes on that there will be enough of them, that some of them will organise, and amongst themselves find the means to speak as a "we", as you do.

No chance these programs have been going for many years and look how far its gotten us...nowhere. Once they return to a divided island its hits them straight in the face as the GCs travel south and TCs north of the BORDER, never to see one another ever again.

...many years, maybe, but only not too long ago, the gates were opened.

"we" vp?. you must mean "you", as in you personally.

for the thousands who cross the Green Line, they would not agree. or at least if they said, things have not changed, they would mean, things are moving to normal again, like before.

So you claim we are closer to solution because people cross. Do you live on planet earth we have met now and understand that the grass is definitely not greener on the other side.
