Saluting Captain Christofias!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I implore you to face reality [NOT for my sake]. Christofias is your ONLY way out of the mess. Negotiate honorably before too late.

You do not have another 37 years. I'd be surprised if you have even 3,7 months!

He does to all those many thousands TCs living in the north who have acquired RoC passports.!

No more than a freebie, if you give it away people will take it without paying anything, the TCs did not vote for Christifas.

The fact that individual TCs in their thousands, on their own free will accepted the RoC passports, it makes Christofias their President, regardless whether they had voted for him or not. It's just like those TCs who did not vote for Eroglu, but he is still their "president". It's that simple.

Sorry Kiks I dont accept your premise that if one holds an RoC passport then we have to accept Christofias as our President. That passport represents my birthright as a Cypriot citizen and nothing else.

your logic issy is perplexing, you have the cypriot birthright and a RoC passport which you awknowledge is the representative of Cyprus, but you do not support/view christofias as the representative of Cyprus. how can that be, ??? explain

one more question

were you/if you were in cyprus would you march against turkey's occupation of cyprus as so many of the tc did the other day?

Cowboy, Its not that difficult to reconcile. My nationality and rights are not subject to the acceptance of Christifias as my repesentative anymore than Cameroon is of my British Nationality. Its two separate things entirely,
If I were in Cyprus yes I would be against the occupation of Cyprus as well the flooding o fthe North with settlers.

Hi Issy,

I'm sorry Issy, but Christofias is your President as long as you recognise that the RoC citizenship and passport is your birthright (which it is btw), and with that comes the responsibility of said citizenship. Whether you (or me) voted or support Christofias or any other Cypriot President from the past or in the future, is neither here or there, the RoC President becomes the President of all Cypriots. The only way to remove yourself from such responsibility or liability, is for you (or me) is to voluntarily abdicate your RoC citizenship, which you are free to do so. Being a citizen of any country/nation has it's responsibilities and one cannot choose to accept the benefits and not the responsibilities that goes with it. One cannot be a "just a little pregnant", nor can they be "just a little bit citizen", I'm afraid.

It is time that we gCypriots, the guarantors of millennia old Cypriot traditions and the vast majority of this country's population, demand that we not negotiate with Turkey's fascists or accept the results of acts of fascism (undue 1960 pressures & heinous results of 1974).

It is time we be honest with our tCypriot compatriots and let them know that we gCypriots:

1. will define the future of Cyprus, as any majority should
2. will protect all cultural rights of tCypriots, as well as their community rights within reason
3. will never recognize any the dividing line
4. will demand that the human & property rights of all Cypriots be respected
5. will commit to undo the results of 1974, not least of which the cultural violation
6. will compensate the families of all victims of all deaths of Dec 63, 1964&67
7. will commonly agree to celebrate a Memorial Day to pay tribute to all those lost since the 50s for us to have a country today
8. will take Turkey to the International Court of Justice for violating her responsibilities as a guarantor power for 37 years & for her role in events prior to 1974
9. will seek a solution to Cyprus' Turkeyish problem based on the November 30th 1963 document by Makarios, a unitary state solution with elements of local and communal self administration on issues of low level politics.

It is time we be honest with Turkey and tell her:
1. once we have thrown her out of Cyprus we will never stop as Cypriots, gCypriots and tCypriots alike, to seek a similar solution for her own Kurdish ethnic minority, with constitutional guarantee for respect for Kurds' human, community and cultural rights, including that of language.
