The embassy was guarded by hundreds of policemen in riot gear. Representatives of the embassy refused to accept the letter and told them that the only way they can reach the ambassador is by mail. Frustrated from the attitude of the Turkish leadership, the protesters sent the message that if Turkey wants a confrontation they will have it. In the meantime the Turkish government insists on having the protesters arrested and sent to court, it also threatened the Turkish Cypriot leadership that unless they take measures against them it would mean that they are protecting them.

But that's the penalty for Turkey volunteering to become an occupying power in Cyprus. They become responsible to "feed and maintain" all those under her occupation. The longer the occupation of the north continues, the more it will cost Turkey. She does have a choice however, and that is to cut her loses and end the occupation, which at some point, it will come to an end anyway, whether Turkey will like it or not, so why throw anymore good money after bad.?

That is really the essence of the problem. tCypriot nationalists want to be a nation without land, and in their minds stealing land is justified because they suffered. An outrageous approach really! If that was the case Germany would have been a state of the USA, part UK and part Russia. And Turkey Kurdistan!

I just wish they would open their eyes before too late! Time is running out.

It is our role to make sure Turkey continues to pay a heavy price for its occupation.

Of course, that is why we much use the media to point our to the EU and the UN that Turkey is illegally occupying Cyprus and until she shows respect for the sovereignhty of another Country and the principles upon which the EU is based upon, she will not be engaged in conversations around EU membership and it will also be economically embargoed. Turkey then needs to decide which path she will take based on good thought being given to any decision made.
