Does anyone have an Apple ipad?
If so what do you think of it, can you give it an overall rating out of ten.
I ordered one yesterday.

It has a nice screen and the interface is nice and refined. But I wouldn't buy one because: it doesn't support Flash, it doesn't have good connectivity (USB, HDMI, SD card etc) and you need to buy propitiatory Apple wires. Also it is too expensive and this is probably the wrong time to buy as the iPad 2 will be out in a month or so and the prices of the original iPad will drop a lot. Personally I will wait for Android to mature for the tablet platform and buy an android tablet in 5-6 months which will be better than the iPad and much cheaper.

Like it a lot, use it a lot for presentations, a few nice apps and have definitely left the laptop alone for browsing at home.

Was made to look stupid last summer when my other 2 partners started the presentation by flipping over their ipads while i was still waiting for windows to load. Ran out and got one soon as the meeting finished.

Very handy in meetings. bought docs to go with it so have all of microsoft office software that i used before on it...excel, word, powerpoint etc...

Overall great buy.

Price-value reasoning based on how you want to use it

If your primary need is to get portable option for entertainment , its good and solid option that wont get affected with existing limitations of
- Flash supprt (How many time you actually feel need for this , except reading in tech magazines)
- Cables (You can still store/xfer movies/music using iTune, surely its not easy but if you used to Apple products its not biggie. It takes around couple of weeks to get comfy with this)

If you want to use it for entertainment + surfing (Wi-Fi) , again good option rather than carrying laptop
3G : Hmmm .... how frequently you actually access web from your phone , and how much you ready to pay for data bundle charges

Only negative that you will find in iPad is missing camera (front one) for video chatting , so if you not into video chatting , you will not miss much in iPad 1.0

- Galaxy Tabs (Good option but missing Android apps targetted for Tablets is big -)

I would definitely wait for iPad 2 as I need camera for video chat but apart from that I am OK with rest of specs.

A lot of the content on the web is flash, video and games on the web is almost elusively flash. Also I don't like how apple is trying to lock you on their products. iPad is nice, solid construction, refined interface etc, but I think Android tablets will give much better performance for money. Galaxy Tab is build on an Android version which was made for mobile phones. The next generation of Android tablets will be much better and will easily compete with the iPad, with more features at a better price.
