Is it possible that a part of the the problem GR has with Apple is either that Apple wont let him near them to sell or officially support in any way; or there is otherwise not a lot of money in it for him?

nope! i'll disappoint you there, besides a package called mobile me, apple is not ahead in cloud technologies! MS and Google are far more ahead apple in this space! However Apple has been building a huge a huge data-center in Maiden, NC, which is 5 times bigger than the existing one they use, no one knows so far for what it will be used! Maybe during this summer at WWDC where Apple shows their plans for the future of iOS and OS X they will unveil their plans for the cloud as well!

Apple distribution is improving dramatically! iPad 2 was released in the USA 2 weeks ago and its already officially in Cyprus as well as 25 other countries!

And guess what! pricing of iPad in Cyprus is even better than Greece! (Vat is 5% higher)

iPad 2 base model pricing starts at €479.00 including vat! if you remove vat then it more or less matches the USA pricing which is perfect!

Now that is imported officially from apple distributors in Cyprus you will not be ripped off to pay it double the price than it sells in the USA! last year companies that brought the iPad in Cyprus thought 3rd parties were selling it for over 800 euro!
