Reports: Iran, Turkey sign trade pact potentially worth $30 billion

(CNN) -- Iran and Turkey signed a trade pact Sunday, one which Tehran said could be worth $30 billion over five years and signaled even stronger ties between the two nations.

Both nation's leaders touted the agreement as something that could provide huge mutual economic benefit, according to their respective state media. Tehran, especially, played up the deal as evidence of a new era in relations.

"Iran and Turkey are two countries that complete each other," Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said, according to Turkey's official Anadolu news.

'Iran, Turkey trade to hit $15bn in 2011'

Iran's Ambassador to Turkey Bahman Hosseinpour says the trade volume between the two countries is expected to hit USD15 billion by the end of the year, Press TV reports.

The official said that the volume of bilateral trade stood at USD10.561 billion during the first eight months of 2011 and was expected to reach USD30 billion by 2015, a Press TV correspondent reported on Saturday.
