Yes there is a photo in one of the Cyprob threads, with a very, very small number of demonstrators holding flags of the Republic and a big banner telling Turkey to go asihktir.

Hi Deniz,

I was intending to keep this thread discussion free and just use only "pictures", but since you asked, then I'll answer.

I think Erdogan is looking for a face saving exit from the north at some point, so he will get the TC's pissed off enough for them to tell Turkey to take a hike, so I think this is all one big play acting. Erdogan wants to join the EU as soon as possible or else if Turkey's EU chances are dead, so will be the Turkish Economy, then Erdogan might start having demonstrations for his ouster and to leave the country.

So to answer your question, I think they will take some of these "ungrateful" to court, just so to inflame the situation even more, for Eroglu looking like a puppet (is a puppet) of Turkey when Erdogan always stated that the north is a Democracy. Erdogan shouldn't really use such big words like Democracy when he doesn't know what the definition of Democracy is.

I am not justifying Turkeys presence in cyprus or saying that presence if just for a turkish defense point of view. but just to answer your points in isolation from a stratigic point of view, Cyprus is an area where attack against turkey can be launched, if Cyprus was a greek Island for instance cyprus in to turkey would be a second front in a grecco Turkish war, which would mean that Turkey would have to expend much resources nulifying this threat in war times, if it had no troops on the island. While because it does have a sizable amount of troops in N cyprus the likelyhood of Cyprus joining even greece in a war against Turkey is much minimalised.

I think the RoC ought to come to their rescue by accepting the flag flown as an act of patriotism
