Consequently a few posters have dominated the board and driven others (including me ) away... In fact, anybody that doesn't believe that Cyprus is perfect, that Turks are evil, that all the Brits should leave or that Cyprus doesn't need British tourists are made unwelcome...

That doesn't make for a very friendly 'General Chat' board and it isn't surprising that anybody considering moving or holidaying to Cyprus doesn't bother posting questions in 'Cyprus Tourism'.

This used to be a great place to chat about Cyprus, to debate with other members, for newbies to ask questions and for those that live here and love Cyprus to swap news and information.

It really isn't unreasonable for those that live here and love Cyprus (or even those that visit frequently) to criticise those parts of it that are not only unpleasant but damaging to the reputation of Cyprus and the tourism industry.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that many that post here know nothing of the 'Cyprus Problem' or care anything about it. After all, our political 'masters' have managed to ignore it for the past 36 years for their own reasons...

The last time I said this place was under-moderated I was told that we didn't need draconian moderation (which was never my intention). Well, as a result many good posters have continued to leave and we now have just that with posters banned from the forum and threads locked without reason or explanation.

I fear it will be some time before this place picks up again and starts to attract new people.

Just my humble opinion...

That is not the only problem. What about the racist British trolls who are looking for an excuse to say something bad about Cyprus and Cypriots? (have you seen the comments in almost all of Cyprus Mail articles?) And then there are some TCs who are here just to promote their pseudo state with every opportunity. The problem is the "free for all" concept of the forum. Sounds good but it doesn't work. There should be some criteria on who is allowed to post here. Then all the problems will be solved.

Sodoff Sotos.

With the above statement you have shown how 'racist' you are, also how you DO NOT believe in freedom of speech and expression. The forum is a place for discussion and not for shutting our minds out for anything we disagree on.

Dont tell me that the RoC does not have an 'opposition' party to criticise the 'doings' of the elected Goverment. If you did not have any opposition, then you live in a dictatorship. Perhaps you should ban the Cyprus Mail for what it publishes and what is freely known around Cyprus.

Perhaps what you wish is a 'GREEK ONLY FORUM'. Get on your bike you...............

But thats your point of view!
Are you right?
Do all the English come on here to slate the cypriots?
Do cypriots slate the english?

You have to understand that everyone is different, have had their own experiences in life, some are expressive while others arent so and everyone is allowed to express their opinion on the forum.
We cant all be the same and be in the same mood otherwise it would all be so samey and boring.
I think the fact that everyone is different keeps the forum rolling.
If you dont like it and dont like the responces, you cant change it.
TBF I dont think it is a bad as it used be with the attacking, its more a case of banter and good fun, it all depends how you look at it :)

Please note that I never used the word "all". But there are few and the forum is better without them. If those few are allowed in the forum then they affect everybody else. Some people react by leaving the forum and others react by responding in kind which makes the situation even more polarized! Every person is different and it is ok to disagree but to have a community you need some sort of common ground.

Yes I agree, but some subjects are very contraversial and tempers can quite easily fly off, which in some posts is understandable.
The cyprus problem is ott at times but personally I think the general section is getting alot better :)

 I didn't say anything about races, did I? The forum should be open to all races but this unmoderated free speech that anybody can troll and say whatever he feels like is the reason for the problems we are having. The forum is not a freaking country, it is a community and people get in such communities because they have something in common that unites them. If a forum is made by people who disagree on everything and keep fighting then it is not a community. To solve the problems of the forum it needs to be made into a community and stop being a battleground.

I agree but then again there are those people who want to bring the Cyprus Problem into the General section and then all hell breaks loose!

Who needs vitamins when I get all I need from Cypriot fruit and vegetables.
