It is good positive news for now, Algeria Yemen and Morocco have unrest as we speak.

The ordinary Egyptian people have played a blinder :D at some loss to themselves sadly, and I hope upon hope that the US and others in the West with their ambiquous ties with dictators past and present to suit themselves, keep out from now on, unless asked. The worry is now going to centre on what Isreal do IF they see a new leader they don,t like. Indeed what Egypt may do also with the border with Gaza. But for now they should rejoice in their victory.

Lets hope that not just the Swiss banks freeze Mubaraks 'assests' and make him give it back to the people. I would imagine many leaders and the despotic regimes are thinking of ways to possibly flee their countries right now along with their hidden bank account numbers.

It was good to see history in the making.

You're right Milo, but I don't imagine that the Swiss banks or any other banks will freeze Mubarak's assets. History has shown that these despots die peacefully in their beds while their families enjoy the ill-gotten gains.

Well they have for what good it will do, the UK Guardian has said today they know Mubarak has bank accounts there, probably one or two here in Cyprus his wealth will be hard to verify but how an ex military man not ever a business man accumulates such wealth is not hard to fathom, course he is,nt on his own in the middle east regions. His military generals will also be on his payroll plus many others, and no doubt one of the many reasons he ignore calls to go for so long believing many would protect him. He owns property in many countries palace's in fact, and yet the US carried on paying billions every year to Egypt's army when Mubarak could have funded it alone

His two sons are rumoured to party hard with their vast wealth also. In fact unlike some from the regions don,t try and hide it. All this while 40 million Egyptians fell below the poverty line.

Does,nt mean for a second though that others will not try to do the same, the wealth is filched off the top of many deals to Egypt and no doubt from oil and gas revenues, its sickening that a tiny portion stuff themselves with un-needed wealth that they can never spend, while others suffer so badly with basically nothing, its a shame that he may go scot free because of his connections to the army elite.

They are already finding that ousted Ben Ali Tunisia's president has amassed untold wealth in the billions as has the family of his wife, its spread wide by these despots. Bribery Corruption and Nepotism are rife in the middle east. It would be a better world without them.

Iranian navy ships enter Suez Canal
The naval vessels are the first from Iran to transit through the waterway since the country's 1979 Islamic revolution.

----------
Two Iranian naval ships have entered Egypt's Suez Canal and are heading towards the Mediterranean, a canal official said.
"They entered the canal at 5:45am," the official told Reuters news agency on Tuesday.
The two vessels, Alvand, a patrol frigate and Kharg, a supply ship, are the first naval vessels to go through the canal since Iran's 1979 Islamic revolution, after which diplomatic ties between Egypt and Iran were strained.
Egypt's ruling military council, facing its first diplomatic challenge since taking power on February 11, approved the vessels' passage through the canal.
The canal is a vital global trading route and a major source of revenue for the Egyptian authorities.
Israel takes a "grave view" of the passage of the ships.
On Sunday, after a weekly meeting of his cabinet, Binyamin Netanyahu , Israeli prime minister denounced the ships' arrival in the region as an Iranian power play.
And last week, the prospect of the Suez crossing was described by Avigdor Lieberman, Israel's far-right foreign minister, as a "provocation" by Iran.
But an Iranian diplomat said that, "This will be a routine visit, within international law, in line with the co-operation between Iran and Syria, who have strategic ties.
"The ships will spend a few days in Syrian ports for training purposes, having already visited several countries including Oman and Saudi Arabia," the diplomat added.
The decision was a difficult one for Egypt's interim government as Cairo is an ally of the United States and has a peace treaty with Israel.
However, Egypt's official MENA news agency has reported that the request for the ships to transit the canal was granted because they were not carrying weapons or nuclear and chemical materials.
The 1,500-tonne Alvand is normally armed with torpedoes and anti-ship missiles, while the larger 33,000-tonne Kharg has a crew of 250 and facilities for up to three helicopters, Iran's official Fars news agency said.
