A citizen of Cyprus is a Cypriot or a Cypriotess.

Very, very occasionally there are references to Cyprians.

A reminder/word of warning boys and girls ....(and Milti) , that those who follow the example of the Former Colonial Power and the Partitionists, whether through political ambitions or just laziness, and talk of "greek-cypriots" and "turkish-cypriots" are increasing the risk of ending up with very real Greek Cyprus and Turkish Cyprus.

So what's it to be chaps and chapesses? Cypriots or motherland-feckers??

(Doesn't really bother me of course being a sort of Englishman.)

Cypriot sounds good. Cyprian equally nice sounding. Cypriotess seems both unnecessary and sexist.

Our ethnic identity is what it is, and we are not going to give up our identity in order to serve the interests of certain foreign imperialists.

The story that giving up our ethnic identity will help to keep our island united is nothing but a myth. The fact is that there are certain foreigners who want to take part of our island, and the only way to liberate our island is to defeat the invaders. Nothing less will do.

Do you really think that if we give up our ethnic identity that Turkey will voluntarily give up its geopolitical interests and the TCs will accept not to have disproportionally large powers and privileges on our expense?

Our ethnicity is not a problem at all. Most normal countries have a bigger ethnic group and then other smaller ones. The normal way to go about this is to have people respecting each other regardless of their race, religion, language etc, and all citizens to be equal regardless of their differences, and not to force everybody to become the same because differences can not be tolerated. Only racists could believe that such thing can be part of the solution.

Those that support that we should give up our Hellenic identity are only helping the foreigners who have as an aim to keep Cyprus as isolated as possible in order to make their work of exploiting our island easier. Doing such thing not only will not result in anything positive, but the only thing that will achieve is to alienate the rest of Greeks, who are currently our only real ally.

Errrrrrr.... been trying to think of a nation in this new global world order that defines nation based on ethnicity as closely as some of the above would have us believe..... and do you know....? Can't.

Let me have another think.... USA? err.... no, .... China? .... Nope... quite a few ethnicities there........ err ..... Turkey? ....... nope, at least 2-3 there......... err Oz? no loads of ethnicities there of course ......

Gosh can't for the life of......... oh hang on ..... have got one!!!!!!!!
