but the sad thing is im a supporter of a federation for cyprus however what eroglu has been spatting the last few days and i read a article by a european diplomt stating that if eroglu even mentions the belgium model he is going to be laughed out of geneva considering that belgium hasen't had a govt. in over 200 days.
I thnk Christofias if he truly believes in a a federation should have a written multi point plan covering all the chapters within the framework of the un and eu resolutions and guidlines give it to BAN and downer and go and enjoy geneva.Let eroglu site there and talk about BBC and guaranttes and so on.
Then its the UN that walks away and partition....You are like silly little girls giggling......I know its part of Bills nature but the infection?

NICOSIA, Cyprus (AP) — Cyprus' commerce minister says drilling to tap potential natural gas deposits off the island's southeastern coast could begin before the end of the year.
But Antonis Paschalides said possible delays due to "the European Union and some licenses we require" could push the start date back to "very early in 2012."
Paschalides was speaking Tuesday after talks with visiting officials from Texas-based Noble Energy Inc.
Cyprus licensed Noble Energy in 2007 to explore an 800,000-acre (1,250-square-mile) area situated near a recently discovered field off Israel that contains more than 450 billion cubic meters (15.9 trillion cubic feet) of natural gas.

With the recent disclosure that the oil reserves in Saudi Arabia may be less by 40% than what the Saudis had stated, has gotten the USA worried as to where their next barrel of oil is going to come from to feed their needs. This revelation in my view has boosted the oil fields in the Cyprus EEC Zone's indirect value up by 40%, which means that the USA is likely to be 40% more kinder and gentler with the RoC as they protect their interests of future oil supplies to them. It may also be the reason to rush the production of oil and gas in the region as quickly as possible, because the less there is of known oil reserves in the world, the higher the oil prices become, and for the Americans, it means paying more than $3 Dollars a gallon for petrol at the pumps, which they hate with a passion.!
Yes the Cyprus oil reserves are important to the USA but please don´t forget that Israel is the bigger player to protect its own interest and with strong ties with the USA it makes their interest. So it is better to come to the conclusion that now with the Egyptian Revolution and oil supply to Israel from Egypt it will have Israel and not the USA making the Cyprus EEC zone vitally important.
Now with the Arab world changing against Israel the rope will be getting much tighter around the EEC zone in the middle east. If Egypt moves to have stronger ties with Turkey and takes a stand against Israel it will isolate Israel in a very fragile region. Not to say this will happen tommorow this is only my opinon.
Also don´t forget that USA is now in Iraq.
I think the USA company drilling in that region along with Israel will need to proceed with caution.
