The British embezzlement of Cypriot heritage...

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Oracle » Fri Jan 21, 2011 12:26 pm

A succession of Governors who knew the natives of Cyprus as Greeks but moulded the Cyprus problem by giving a foreign minority undue power.

Here we have the failure, Harding, acknowledging Makarios as the leader of the " Cypriot Campaign". Yet audaciously, despite this being a Cypriot Campaign the Brits labelled the Cypriots as "terrorists" for fighting for their rights.

http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=39709

Then he meets with the leader of the Turkish minority of the island who is "fighting against" this Cypriot campaign. A fair minded person would have labelled this chap and his followers as terrorists for "fighting against the Cypriot Campaign", don't you think?

NB Makarios is NOT referred to as the leader of "Greek Cypriots", but as the leader of the Cypriot Campaign. An acknowledgement that Cypriot was the termed used for the majority of the islanders for whom a reminder that they are Greek was unnecessary. Unlike the Turkish minority who were clearly viewed as the foreigners. Yet they embezzled this fact and gave the Turkish minority overwhelming power over the whole island.

They cannot have embezzled anything if as you said Harding gave the TCs that attribute. He merely put the yoke on the TCs head and the TCs have suffered as a result ever since.

Stop playing with words O. You are confusing yourself.

The fact was that "you" are the foreign Turkish minority, as stated in the clip - Turkish - and not like the majority of the island who are referred to as Cypriots. It is the Cypriot majority - led by Greek Orthodox Makarios - who fought the Cypriot Campaign as stated in the clip - and it was the foreign Turkish Minority who fought against the Cypriot Campaign - as stated in the Pathe news clip.

Yes, the fact is that the Turkish minority are not, and never were, Cypriot. Yet, this truism was later removed as an obstacle, by the British Empire, towards embezzling the native Cypriots of their heritage - Cyprus!

The yoke you speak of was placed upon you by Turkey to lead the island into their hands and its destruction.

Good for you if you recognize the RoC and have Cypriot citizenship. But I am not "half Greek" just because my parentage derives from various states around the Hellenic fold; be it Epirus, Boeotia, Attica, or Cyprus.

Does the 'recognition of the RoC and having Cypriot citizenship' enable one to call themselves 'Cypriot'? Well I'll be damned. That easy is it?

So long as you fulfill the requirements of the RoC to honour you with citizenship, then who am I to argue with that?

Of course, it doesn't make you a native of Cyprus.
