i have had alot of help but would ask if anyone can point me the right way to finding a fibreglass supplier in cyprus you will be doing a massive favour and it will get you a drink . as i feel i can bring my fibreglass business to cyprus and finaly get it up and running as i hear the postal service is quite good and is not that costly.

Swimming Pools Martin, may pay to find someone who knows a pool manufacturer in CY and wangle their supplier from them in some devious way.

Why dont you try Local pool cleaners in the first instance as they may be able to point you in the right direction?

Its all a secret British plan to recover the Island by stealth. We are slowly but surely buying it up. Be ready for the declaration of the Britsih Republic of North and West Pafos. :-)

The greek(cypriot) word for fibreglass is Giallombambako,(glass cotton) but I've seen φίμπεργκλας used too.

Maybe try www.giallombambakosupplies4u.com.cy. All the best with your fibreglass!

Biking in Cyprus

Postby merrytraveller » Tue Jan 25, 2011 10:41 am

martinreid101 wrote:thank you for the advise the more the better as we would like this to be a permanent move not just a 2 or 3 year deal as the uk seems to be on its knees at the mo.
any advise on us bringing our bikes over ie any import tax or fees to register them we dont want to sell them on for money, we just want to be able to enjoy the whole island.

Biking in Cyprus is great fun (but more dangerous than the UK). The main problem that you will find is insurance - or rather the lack of it. I pay more for my bike insurance than my car and I can only get the basic third party cover, not even fire and theft. I arrived ten years ago with my bike I brought from the UK. I had twenty years of no claims, IAM and RoSPA but this cut no ice and I had difficulty finding any Insurance Company that would even give me a quote. However once you have crossed that hurdle you will enjoy biking in Cyprus.

Martin, if you go to your 'My eBay' and select from the top right:

Comunity > Discussion Boards> Selling on eBay > International Trading

You will be able to post all your queries there and receive answers quite quickly from experienced overseas sellers.

Also on the Postage Forum:

Community > Discussion Boards> Selling on eBay > Postage & Payments

But for quick responses to general selling questions - here is probably best and they will redirect you to anywhere else you need:

http://community.ebay.co.uk/forum/Seller-Central/7

I've found Cyprus Postal Services VERY reliable. But since changing to the euro - they look quite expensive and what a lot do now is to build the cost of postage into the selling price and send it 'FREE' or to build some of it in and send it at a nominal charge.

Do NOT give up your UK Paypal account!

gasman .....thank you for all that advise it will become very important for me to keep selling in cyprus due to my unskilled work ethic i.e. not having the paper work to back up the things i have and can do for a living and this seems to be a big problem when looking for work in cyprus . one thing i would like to know about is becoming self employed in cyprus and what is involved out there re books and paper work and cost .
