thank you for the advise the more the better as we would like this to be a permanent move not just a 2 or 3 year deal as the uk seems to be on its knees at the mo.
any advise on us bringing our bikes over ie any import tax or fees to register them we dont want to sell them on for money, we just want to be able to enjoy the whole island.

If you get a good Lawyer from the High Commission,IT team and Accountant Cyprus is very suitable for an international internet based business. There are tax advantages and factories, licences and labour is much cheaper than many places. You might miss alot of the free stuff from UK like decent free Health Care (If you are not too old though hopefully it won't be a problem) English language education is not free if you have squids. Other than that I think Paphos is ideal for people from the UK as there is a large expat support network. If you have real estate in the UK I would advise you not to sell it if possible just in case Cyprus is not for you. I would take my time buying any real estate until the business is up and running.

i am 37 and the wife is 26 so not to old .no kids but if we settle then that maybe something we do in cyprus. if we get there we want to speak greek so that would be the first thing to start but we also from my past visits want to mix in well with the locals as for us that is a big part ,no more of that one up men stuff that seems to be the norm in the uk . new marrage and hopfully a whole new way of life that we can make work for us and we do understand it will be hard at first but from the replys i see most have made a nice life for themselfs in cyprus and we hope we can to.

If you are successfully selling on eBay and want to continue selling on eBay from here - bear in mind that Cyprus doesn't have its own dedicated eBay site. Cyprus doesn't have full paypal functionality either. Very few sell from here. Those that do tend to sell on the dot com site or the de. one.

No idea what sort of motorcycle parts you sell, but bear in mind also the cost of posting out heavy or bulky items abroad from here and the fact that Cyprus post doesn't carry the same compensation schemes for lost or damaged items that Royal Mail does - not unless you use expensive courier or registered services.

If you need any advice about eBaying from here - PM me and I will send you the links to where you can get it.

Thank you for the advise on ebay chap it was just the right thing for me .It was my hope to keep my account in the uk and my paypal and my bank account in place and to just make and send from cyprus .The items i make are the belly pans and huggers and the main ones i make are the undertrays if i was to do this do you think the cyprus postal service is reliable enough to help this happen . Most of my items come in between the 0.8 to 1.3 kilo mark so not heavy just large. It would be a great help if you have any further advise reguarding this as it was my main idea to go self employed in cyprus and maybe do some repair work to boats aswell. does cyprus have a good bike life style ? Thank you for the help and any futher help you could offer me .

Thank you for that i have found after much emailing the links for importing our bikes and seems we would be better off if they were under the 600cc .
The site is worth its wait in gold for us at the moment .

martinreid101 wrote:Hello to everyone on this site and i hope you will be able to help me and my new wife.
we have had enough of the uk and the state of the country in general and have decided that as my parents now live in Cyprus that we will do our very best to move there this year maybe in august once my wife finishes her school year. she is a primary school teacher and is looking for work in Cyprus as i email, and has already had some return emails of possible work for September, however i am a fibreglasser and sprayer and at the moment am setting up a business making motorcycle parts to sell on eBay. we are both motor bike lovers and would like to bring our bikes and one car with us.
we would like to live in the emba area near paphos. However this will depend on where my wife can find teaching work but we hope to be around this area.
So any advice or info on what the main things we will need to arrange and put in place before we leave would be very much appreciated.

We are visiting my parents in Febuary for one week and for my wife to meet a local head master for a informal chat about teaching. As for me i will be going around the island viewing flats and homes to research info about the property market as we will be renting .

with regard to sending your bikes and car, contact Andrews shipping in Enfield, London they are the best shipping company for cars an bikes, also ask them for contact details for Lois in Limasol, (they will for sure have it) and he will be able to help you once your bikes and car arrive, Louis is an agent basically and you WILL need him and his rates are supurb.
