Well shouting and having a hysterical fit at Europe's door won't work either.

I would disagree here.

Should Turkey join the EU why would you think Turks would swarm to this island when the entire EU is wide open for them? Personally I would head for Denmark, Netherlands and definitely the UK considering the welfare system they have in place for EU immigrants.

Secondly with Turkey in the EU that would firstly mean that she's recognised the Republic of Cyprus, opened its ports to Cypriot traffic and there has been a solution to the Cyprus problem.

Why would so many want to end this candidacy from now when it can only be fulfilled when the above have been executed?

Turkey knows exactly what it needs to do to join the EU.

This is nonsense. It is not Greek Cypriot nationalists who are preventing Turkey from entering the EU. Turkey's inability to open chapters of its accession process are because it fails to meet the criteria that the EU as a body has set. This includes the normalization of ties with the ROC.

Turkey knows the rules. It couldn't have been made any clearer. So why are they persisting with the charade of EU entry? Why does Turkey claim it wants to join the EU while its actions do nothing to advance its EU course? Why is the current Turkish leadership doing everything to undermine its EU entry while claiming it wants to join? That, as they say, is an interesting question...

don't be ridiculous, i'm talking as an eu citizen. i don't want turkey in because she's literally billions of grams away from being ready. this has nothing to do with turkey's actions in cyprus. i'd feel the same way about iran, syria, north korea, the klingons, romulans, talosians and the borg.

The EU should stop dealing with Erdogan and Turkey and just start accession talks with Ocalan and Kurdistan

Leaving out all the silly rhetoric, it really is in Turkey’s best interests to stay out of the EU, whose economy is failing, whose demographics point to a crisis in the not too distant future and whose democratic credentials are dubious, having an unelected president, an unelected ‘foreign minister’, and unelected commissioners largely running it.

Shame about Cyprus.
