Erdoghan: "not a gram of Cyprus will be returned"

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

"Which came first enosis or taksim? Stop avoiding the real question."

They both happened simultaneously to the north of Cyprus. They were Turkish aspirations pursued ruthlessly since the 1940s if not earlier. Now you have them, enjoy them.

Your aim is the complete antithesis of Ghandi's. You are a shameful fantasist for hijacking his cause.

I beg to differ...I am trying to enlighten you of the plight of the TCs during the 50s and 60s,of which I was an eyewitness...If we are going to have a just and lasting agreement we must stop this hatred and bitterness and try to promote empathy and compassion..If we don't have that we dont have understanding and trust..and without those we are condemned to permanent Partition...

By spreading hatred and bitterness YOU are practising a shameful act of treachery against my homeland,Cyprus...Time to get your head out of the sand, and realise the damage you are causing to our peace efforts...

Bir i can understand the plight of the Tcs but dont try to make TMT a group of angels . their main aim was and is taksim ..............Enosis was back then now does not exist .

I'd be the last person here to try to make angels out of the TMT,quattro...
You are relatively new here,so perhaps you are not aware of my earlier posts...But you are wrong about the TMT,it was formed to defend the TCs island-wide for the imminent EOKA and GC paramilitary attacks...It was used for other purposes as well, but pushing for Taksim was a secondary aim,to counteract the push for Enosis...These are facts,as I have lived them, please take my word for it...

You are well aware ,Nikitas, that the idea of Enosis with Greece had been present in GC hearts and minds since 1821...You can turn it and twist it any way you like...The spirit of Enosis was alive and flourishing even before there was an entity called 'Turkish Cypriots',let alone a country called Turkey!

On the same day Eroglu demanded that each constituent state should have the power to sign international agreements.

So what the hell are we negotiating and why are we still insisting on defining the goal as FEDERAL? The other side obviously is hellbent on partition with no return of territory and will agree to a CONFEDERAL solution at best.

Predictably some here, notably Bananiot, Bir, Deniz, will rush to assure me that this is all political grandstanding. How is the clear statement about not returning one gram of Cyprus get reconciled with grandstanding? Where does this statement leave the TCs who supposedly are free to negotiate as "an independent entity"?

To the above add moves to take the Famagusta issue to Turkish courts and have ALL property in the new city of Varosi declared Evkaf land and deny the rights of the city's inhabitants.

We must wake up and realise who and what we are dealing with.

Turkey can enjoy EU under one condition" Government in Ankara to be staffed by politicians having Cyprus citizenship only"

The idiot has just played right into the hands of those who do not want Turkey by demonstrating exactly what Merkel is talking about.

If this is the best Turkey can do, they might as well stop wasting everyone's time and call it a day with regard to the EU.

You are clearly not going to have your cake and eat it.

You seriously think Erdogan wants EU?? He hates Christians. He has Arab Union in mind.

Arabs are now starting to demand Democracy and Human Rights which Erdogan does not practice such principles.

Has Erdogan asked the Arabs for them to choose him (Erdogan) to lead them yet.? This would be the perfect time for Erdogan to ask to become the leader of the (New Ottoman Empire) whole region by being a Military and Economic Super Power.

How can the Arabs resist such an opportunity.?

But wait a minute, the Arabs want Democracy and Human Rights. That's why they are dying on the streets.

Second thought, I don't think Erdogan can be any use to them after all.!
