I am Greek Cypriot british, Gasman your source is unreliable because it says correctly that 5000-6000 cypriots emigrated to britain in the 50s BUT IT FAILS TO MENTION THE CRUCIAL POINT THAT THOUSANDS OF GREEK CYPRIOTS HAD ALREADY EMIGRATED IN WAVES OF MIGRATION TO THE UK IN THE 1930s.....

MANY CYPRIOTS EMIGRATED BECAUSE THEY ALREADY HAD FAMILY IN THE UK.....OTHERS DIDNT BUT HAD A BRITISH PASSPORT LIKE MY GRANDFATHERS, SO IT WAS LOGICAL TO MOVE THERE....

GREECE IN THE 50s HAD UNDERGONE A DECADE OF WAR, WORLD WAR II FOLLOWED BY A BLOODY CIVIL WAR....USE YOUR BRAIN PLEASE AND STOP BEING A SHEEP TO PROPAGANDA WHICH IS UNRELIABLE AND HAS NO BASIS

AND THOUSANDS OF GREEK-CYPRIOTS MOVED TO GREECE, I HAVE 7 DIFFERENT FAMILIES OF RELATIVES ALL OVER GREECE....IN KALAMATA, 3 DIFFERENT FAMILIES IN ATHENS, IN THESSALONIKI, DRAMA AND ELSEWHERE.....

Only 20 Greek-Cypriots emigrated to Greece in the early 50s?? WHAT A FUCKING JOKE....I have 12 relatives that moved to Greece IN THAT TIME PERIOD, they must have only asked my family when they came up with those bullshit figures....

Hansard is the Official Report of proceedings of Parliament. it is as nearly as possible verbatim, edited only to remove obvious repetitions and mistakes.

But I realised long ago that NO sources are considered credible on here unless they are from a Turkey hating nationalistic GC sympathiser! Even if they emanate from some obscure blogger in some third world country - they are all OK!

When Christofias himself was quoted (worldwide) as saying that Greece too invaded Cyprus (and Christofias said nothing subsequently to correct what he said) - the usual suspects jumped in to say it was a typo, a translation error, that he didn't mean that ... waddever!
