I can sympathise with the "string of bereavements" .... be good to yourselves!

I would head for Polis and Latchi, the Akamas Penisula, Pomos Bay and all the western coast of Cyprus for feel-good fun, frolics, food. Then head to the forest (Troodos, Limassol) for walks, hikes and reflection. Then a spot of culture, history, shopping in Nicosia and dotted in-between with some archaeological sites such as Tombs of the Kings and Choirokoitia.

I've been to the east coast but it leaves me feeling strange, under such circumstances ... (too shallow) ... :?

Wallow in the West Coast ...

Yes but what ages are any children? As we've said many times before, the north-west is excellent for a relaxed holiday but if there are any teenagers in the party, they may want to party; and for younger children the sandy shallow seas of the south-east coast may be more suitable.

Where-ever you go budget for a hire-car, can't do without one on a CY holiday.

If you have a couple of days stay in Kakopetria and tour around Troodos.
