Actually the majority of Kurds living in occupied Kurdistan are Alevi.
No wonder they don't get along with their oppressors.

Kurds of Turkey, 16 million by the most modest account, are seeking equality as T/Cs understand it & a federative model, as well as recognition of Kurdish as an official language of the country. Kurdish, unlike Turkish, is an Indoeuropean language. The reason they vote mainstream is twofold [a] they do not stand out in a society that by law recognizes only the Turkish identity and [b] up until recently the PKK/DTK/BDP supported armed struggle; this is changing and they now pursue light forms of the segregation policies of T/Cs in Cyprus in the 60s.
