No way dude. The African ancestry is very visible.
Classic mixed race features.
I agree.
Absolutely. The African features are dominant. A (Brit) friend who has followed Townsend's career closely, through being a big footie fan, was convinced he was of African descent. Then, when pointed out, he could see he might be partly African, but was totally shocked to hear he is half GC. He doesn't look GC at all. That's not a criticism, he's a lovely looking lad - it's just an observation. Cypriots do not have any significant African features - people just go by a tan as being "other".
I have lots to say about this but I think it's a little rude to place someone's appearance under such scrutiny. But it's not just the tan that makes Cypriots "other". Cypriots have a very distinct appearance. I can always tell a Cypriot from an Italian, for instance, or even a mainland Greek. Then there's the history of course.
His appearance is only under scrutiny because that seems to be paramount in the footie world. Look at Beckham ... male model! This guy could make it too. But as to whether he looks Cypriot, I have it on many accounts now that he doesn't.
Cypriots do not look particularly distinctive. They look very much like Greeks who look very much like Southern Europeans, who look very much like Northern Europeans. Average Cypriot DNA, like Greek DNA, is over 90% European. At most some 1% is middle eastern. None have African DNA that I'm aware of (unless you go back over > 50,000 years) - except now!
