Query me this:

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I think the British scholarly elit has benefited a lot from the knowledge of classical Greek. It is a win win situation Gasman, do not get carried away by the bigots.

Are we to believe Greece is now funding UK state schools? Including fee-paying schools?

Does France finance the teaching of French? Spain on Spanish?

The UK must be more hard-up than I thought!

Yes BELIEVE IT - other extra curricular language courses have to be paid for. But, not a question of Brits being more hard up than you thought - more a case of Greek Govt being more spendthrift (or maybe desperate for more Greek Speakers in the world?) than you imagined they could be!

I wouldn't expect Cypriots to know about this (even the diaspora) because, of course, a GOOD Cypriot would send their kids to school in Cyprus (or Greece) wouldn't they?

Or would they?

You know sod all Horrorcall.

Are you sending your offspring to be schooled in the EXCELLENT Cypriot education establishments?

Will he be doing his national service asap?

Will you and he come back to 'fight for the cause' if we ever get the war GR wants?

Or will you continue to hide where you know you are BEST OFF for what you want out of life .... IN THE GOOD OLD UK lol!

Funny how you criticise those Cypriots that live in the UK while you live in Cyprus and have not said one good word for the country that hosts you in all the times I've ever bothered to read any of your posts. I mostly ignore because apart from lacking basic knowledge of the Cyprus problem you also bore everyone to death with your constant chasing of oracles posts.

Why don't you tell us how Greece is funding UK state schools in keeping with the thread?

N.B. My personal life is none of your concern to question!

Do the private schools here fund the Government run ones? Sure feels like it with the fees they charge? :(

This is an aside from the actual discussion - but private schools are generally prohibitively expensive everywhere.

If you can't afford it or have something against the state system, perhaps, 'home tuition' - I would advocate it
