Fine words (from Cypriot politcianns I note): Nothing that shows the Greeks agree, `not surprising given the history of Greek Military "intervention" in Cyprus in 1974, which not only failed to prevent the invasion, but was the active proximate cause for it.

It was a CIA-sponsored coup, studog.

I don't know why you continue to fail to realise how insulting you are to the majority, natives of Cyprus.

CIA-instigated coup my foot! Always on the double to blame others for our short comings.

In the meantime ...

George Papandreou is meeting with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Erzurum where later he will address a Turkish ambassadors’ conference.

Papandreou has to be a traitor! Piratis, oracle, B25, Klik, etc, etc ... what is happening to us?

BRAVO STA PALIKARIA THS ELDYK

I am proud of the address he gave, no Greek-Cypriot, whatever their political views, can ever say bad about ELDYK. They fought like lions for Cyprus, for Hellenism, and we should be eternally grateful for their sacrifice they gave.

ELLHNIKH DYNAMH KYPROY = Hellenic Force of Cyprus

They had nothing to do with the military junta or military coup on Cyprus. They were sent to Cyprus on November 20, 1959 as a group of soldiers from Greece to protect Cyprus, as Greece was one of the guarantor states.

They formed part of the Cypriot Military....nothing to do with the coup at all.

No my friend, you do not know your facts.

From official records:

In the morning of July 13 1974, a meeting took place at the camp of ELDYK. The following officers took part:

1. Michael Georgitsis
2. Panayiotis Yannakodimos
3. Constantinos Kompokis
4. Constantinos Papayiannis
5. Constantinos Kontosis

At the meeting, the final decisions of the Armed Forces Council were read, and they included:

- The operation (coup) will definitely take place for reasons of national importance.
- It will happen on July 15.
- ALEXANDROS EISIHTHIN EIS NOSOKOMEION would be the signal for the operation to start.
-The whole of ELDYK will participate

Of course, with the above, I do not mean to take away anything from ordinary soldiers of ELDYK who gave their life fighting for a lost cause. However, the leadership was corrupt and played a leading role in the downfall of Cyprus. There is no doubt about this, it is very well documented.

Would you like me to give you details of ELDYK officers who were involved in the conspiracies to murder Makarios and the failed murder attempts?
