The answer is clear, I thought you would see that through my question!!!!

Cant you see that through asking my question, I am challenging you to find something unique to cypriot culture??? BECAUSE I DONT BELIEVE THERE IS A UNIQUE CYPRIOT CULTURE, IT IS ALL INHERITED EITHER FROM HELLENIC OR TURKISH CULTURE

I can only speak for the greek side but i cant find anything uniquely cypriot part of our customs.

Unitary state with strict measures (to avoid extreme actions from any side) is the only solution.

Dude Tcs have their own state only turkey sees it as such but still it is our own state of course bbf is a compromise for us!!!! surely even you can see this???????

It's 99-1 in your favour, how is that a compromised solution. I thought compromise had to be achieved between two different parties, not be one sided. You did that in 1974 by force, now you're gonna force the pen? :?

Yes a compromise has to be agreed by two different parties. from 63 to 74 the Gcs had the upper hand in the negotiations which if accepted would have resulted in a cyprus agreement that extremely favoured the Gcs. But even with this as an option you never took it, and instead instigated a maximalist policy with the GREEK REPUBLIC . which eventually lead to Turkey's intervention and the foundation of the TRNC, So know if you want Cyprus to unite then it has to be under a BBF or not at all. --------- and with BBF realize that we are making as much sacrifices as you are!!!!!

I am sorry bruv but I am only the decendents of the workers of cyprus, so perhaps now you can answer my question without putting it back to me.

A more educated man then simply a "cypriot worker" would point out that the GC dialect is different than main land greek.... and that within the GC state, Main land greek is being encouraged ahead of the GC language/dialect........ and further more there several shared words between TC and GC that are Alien to each mother lands are actually part of the way that pre seperation '63 '68 and '74 cypriots speak. But hey what the fuck do I know know I am just a left over ottoman, and thus Cypriot worker

lol the cypriot dialect is a rich dialect and close to ancient greek. I am proud of this. And you know something..."CYPRIOT DIALECT" as some people say, its proper name is "ARCADOCYPRIOT DIALECT" and it is found not only in Cyprus but also in Rhodes and Tripolis, where Mycaeneans lived and settled...wherever they went, they took their dialect of greek with them

I have been to Rhodes, to places all over the island such as Arxangelos (a village there), and I have spoken to the locals in Cypriot dialect, and we understood each other 100%....they use the same words, same dialect, the Arcadocypriot.

How can people say "GC dialect is different to main land greek"??? As if there is only 1 dialect in main land greece....you know how many there are????

-Pontian
-Constantinople dialect
-Cretan
-Tsakonian
-Macedonian
-Thracian
-Griko
-Arcadian
-Cypriot
-Heimarriotic (Epirus)
-Cappadocian
-Maniot

In Pontian and Constantinople Greek there are turkish words.....so? this is how the dialect evolved....We dont call that another language, it is a dialect.

Within the GC state, why the hell would we encourage GC dialect to be taught in schools???? Deosnt make any sense.....there is no WRITTEN form of our dialect, you can not write in our dialect, we use greek alphabet. Cypriots make the "j" and "ch" sounds which can not be expressed with greek alphabet...it would be ridiculous to even consider writing this dialect out, its purpose was an ORAL form of communication....we write in GREEK, our official language is GREEK, official documents, signposts, statements, literature, are all written in Greek.

It would be ridiculous and make no sense to start teaching some form of written greek dialect and laughably adopt it as a "language"....it is a form of GREEK!

one thing that appears quite possible is that the Myceneans who invaded c1400 BC were acting no differently to the Ottoman Invaders of 1571: its just they were Greek, so invasion and conquest was OK.

AEKTZIS wrote:DTA, I speak Greek, my national anthem is the "Ymnos eis thn Eleutheria" and as Klik states, Cyprus' history is deeply embedded in Hellenism, we are Orthodox, Greek Cypriots are Mycaenean Greeks and of course I believe the idea of a cypriot identity is flawed!!!!!!

For one, there is no cypriot ethnicity!!!! How can we have a cypriot identity with 2 separate ethnicities!?

Cypriots are the stewards of this island. They are not in this sense "Greeks", or "Turks, or etc. We are Individuals who have committed ourselves to defining Bicommunal for the rest of Mankind, in return ending our subjugation, because as Persons we will have a way to sustain these Identities as well.

Mr B. is right because the change must come from within each and everyone of us; a realization that we are offered a State, and within that State, Nations live.

Dont gimme that bullshit pretending like youre some neolithic prehistoric cypriot...a true cypriot.....bullshit.
