The Greek flag

Postby ManoWAR » Thu Aug 11, 2005 1:46 pm

Someone has mentioned something about Greek flag.
We respect and we love it because this flag represents our Nation!
Just remember how many times Greek Cypriots have fight and die for this flag!

At the wars of 1821, 1897, 1903, 1912, 1922, 1940, 1955 and 1974 Greek Cypriots were there, fighting and dieing together with other Greeks for the independence of the motherland Greece, for our Nation and of course for the GREEK FLAG!

i thought that a flag was only a piece of wool (Diamantopoulos in 1995)!!!!

Just to mention for many ppl who do not know that that the cross upon the flag does not stand for the symbol of the fascist christian cross like many christians propagandists claim in Greece but stands the unity between land and sea (the islands and the mainland). I would prefer to see a flag with a greek symbol instead of a symbol (the cross) that comes from a foreign religion.

a good link in english is http://www.rassias.gr/9011.html

a final comment is that... since this is cypriot site why dont u talk about the cypriot flag instead?

1955-1959 was the straggle of EOKA, in Cyprys against British, for Union with Greece.

I've heard they're going to clear the minefields in Thrace. Maybe you could assist in the great cause by wrapping yourself in the Greek flag and slowly walking across to proclaim sovereignty over Constantinople... we'd all be so grateful if you did.

I am talking about the wars where GREEK Cypriots have fight for Greek flag and the straggle of 1955-59 was one of them. Heroes of EOKA were singing the Greek national anthem when they were hanged by British...
