I beg to differ! Hmph!
I did not write the words.
One has to get over it I suppose.
Oracle will hate me if she does not already.
We had a semi-pro baseball team in town. Its marketing group conjured up a game for the fans that was played between 2 random innings. We knew the game was coming when the announcer played the song you posted above "Istanbul Not Constantinople." The winner recieved his/her prize in the form of 1-dollar bills. The game was called "Who wants to be a Turkish Millionaire?"
And BTW, I'll "get over it" when the doors to Halki re-open.
Like the Jews used to say, 'next year in Jerusalem'.
Is not, never was, and never will be applicable as long as the Echumenical Patriarch holds hard and fast.
Could you elaborate on 'Halki' please?
Halki is a Greek Orthodox Theological School on the eponymous Turkish island in the Sea of Marmara. It was established in the mid 1800's. In short, the Turkish government forced its doors shut in 1971, claiming its existence violated the constitution. The constitution relegated all non-secular institutions to the jurisdiction of the government. The Patriarchate would not comply. The intent of the law was to keep radical Islam at bay. Turkey used it to tighten its choke-hold on its G.O. population. ... Chalk it up to another one of Turkey's human rights violations.
