Ever Wonder???

Why a nun can be covered from head to toe and she's respected for devoting herself to God, but when a Muslimah does that, she's considered "oppressed"?

Why a Jew can grow a beard and he's just practicing his faith, and when a Muslim does that, he's an extremist?

When a western woman stays at home to look after the house and kids she's sacrificing herself and doing good for the household, but when a Muslim woman does so, she "needs to be liberated"?

Why is it that when a child dedicates himself to a subject, he has potential, and when a child dedicates himself to Islam, he is hopeless?

When a Christian kills someone, religion is not mentioned, (i.e., Ireland and the IRA) but when a Muslim is charged with a crime, it's Islam that goes to trial?

But then again, why is it after all that, Islam is still the fastest growing religion in the world?

Allahu Akbar!!!

(no offence to my kypreo brothers and sisters.. but i just dont like this choms vlaka..) :P

Because the nun has the choice to take her gown off and not be arrested for it. Also, a nun doesnt have to cover her face up, which is the most degrading thing possible.

What are you taling about? Where did you hear that a woman gets arrested for taking her gown off? In fact in Turkey you get just the opposite, women refusing to take their headscarves off in official government buildings get arrested for that. Probably what you meant was that there is family pressure, especially in the more traditional circles, for women to cover their faces.

Also, a nun doesnt have to cover her face up, which is the most degrading thing possible.

That is not true at all. I have talked to some women covering their faces, and for a muslim women being without headscarf feels almost like being naked. Most women that do that do not feel degraded at all, and do it completely out of their own choice. In fact there are quite a few female students in Turkey that refuse to go to university there since they cannot cover their heads, and instead choose western european universities. But some cannot wear headscarves in europe either

Muslim girl shaves head over ban
Cennet Doganay says French law does not respect her
A 15-year-old French Muslim girl has beaten the ban on Islamic headscarves in schools by shaving her head.
Cennet Doganay was banned from classes for wearing a headscarf - as it went against the new law banning religious signs in schools, introduced this term.

At school on Friday she said: "I will respect both French law and Muslim law by taking off what I have on my head and not showing my hair."

Many Muslims believe modesty requires women to cover their hair in public.

The issue of wearing the hijab - as the traditional headscarf is called by Muslims - has sparked controversy across Europe, with states taking different approaches.

France decided to ban all religious symbols in state schools, including large Christian crucifxes, Sikh turbans and Jewish skullcaps.

As the law was introduced in September, schools were told not to automatically exclude pupils who arrived wearing headscarves, but to try and avert a showdown through dialogue.

Respect

Cennet, whose family is of Turkish origin, had only been allowed into the study room at her school in Strasbourg since early September, as they negotiated her return to class without a headscarf.

With her newly-shaven look, she was allowed into school on Friday.

She told journalists waiting outside: "I respect the law but the law doesn't respect me."

Her mother said Cennet had tried everything "a beret, a bandana - but they still refused to let her into class".

"She has been traumatised since the start of term. But all she wanted to do was go to school like everyone else," she told French news agency AFP.

Reports say about 120 schoolgirls across France insisted on keeping their headscarves at the start of term, but most have since given in under threat of expulsion.
