Hi all,just joined yesterday and thought I'd introduce myself.We will be moving to Cyprus around May 2011,really looking forward to it.Cheers for now

Hi,we will be renting in levadia or Aradippou,not made our mind up yet.I was wondering if you know who has to pay the comms,is it me or landlord.Thanks,nice to meet you

Hi all,thanks for your replies,sorry for me not explaining correctly,I did indeed mean Community fees.I guess this is something that has to be checked out when I find the flat I want.Thanks again guys

Your common expenses should be included in your rent as your landlord (or the property owner) is legally responsible to pay them.

However, lots of Cypriot landlords leave it to the tenants to pay them.

However again, if you don't pay them - they can only chase the property owner for them, not you.

Find out how much they are and decide if you are prepared to pay them on top of your rent.

Best speak to your landlord to get it sorted first.

It's usual for the Electricity, Telephone, Municipality (rubbish removal) and water bills to be paid by the Tenant and for all other expenses to be paid by the Landlord.

Or, in other words, anything you have to SIGN UP FOR to be paid by you. You do not have to sign up for common expenses, nor can they be 'put in your name'.
