How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

It's a good question.
Cyprus has a problem.
There are two sides to this problem.
There are 2 negotiators trying to solve this problem.
Merkel turns up, is here for a couple of hours and doesn't meet any Turkish Cypriot, even though she enters the buffer zone?

If her visit is only concerning GCs, she may have been reading a few fortunes.

One country, one president, one visit!

Everything else is illegal and thus unrecognized, as verified by Merkel’s ignorance of it.

Or the pressure is being mounted upon Mr Christofias.

Only the UNSC and the UNGA combined can “pressure” UN-member sovereign states.

Merkel is a nobody at that level.

Merkel thanked the Greek Cypriot side for its flexibility and creativity in solving the Cyprus problem and agreed that the President is ready for a compromise. She went on to blame the Turkish side for the lack of progress.

??? Is that what you extracted from all this?

It’s pretty clear now that all Merkel wanted was to secure the smooth running of coming NATO-EU issues where Turkey’s involvement was a hindrance due to her negative CyProb stance.

As per usual, Sexstofias just foolishly nodded his 40 gallon empty head giving her the all clear!

I just can’t wait to get rid of this incompetent idiot.

I can count about 20 opportunities so far we’ve wasted in the last 4-5 years, that would’ve tied Turkey into a knot!

Hey I'm reporting on behalf of all those Cypriots out there that have no access to the news today. I'll leave the analysis up to you.

The Cyprus Mail on Sunday suggested she was coming to thank Cyprus for its support of the German car industry!

That makes sense to me.

Just like Ahmadinejad's recent visit to Ankara...Merkel's arrival signals the importance of the great relations with Malta and the RoC.

Germany's Merkel presses Turkey to resolve Cyprus conflict (Roundup)

Jan 11, 2011, 14:20 GMT

Athens/Nicosia - German Chancellor Angela Merkel urged Turkey on Tuesday to make more of an effort to resolve the conflict dividing the eastern Mediterranean island of Cyprus for more than three decades.

She praised the steps taken by the Cypriot government, saying 'they have really proven their willingness to compromise, but unfortunately there has not been any response from the other side so far,' Merkel said following talks with Cypriot President Dimitris Christofias.

It is the first ever visit to the eastern Mediterranean island by a German head of government and Christofias said the visit was of 'fundamental importance' for peace negotiations.

Merkel's visit comes one day after a brief stopover in Malta where she held talks on issues such as European politics and the state of the euro with Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and President George Abela in the capital Valetta.

The visits are aimed at signalling the importance of good relations with the European Union's smaller member states.

Gas ... :D

They discussed these EU memos:

MEMO/10/641
Brussels, 2 December 2010
New EU rules on security of gas supply for citizens
Today, the new Regulation No 994/2010 of the European Parliament and of
the Council concerning measures to safeguard security of gas supply and
repealing Council Directive 2004/67/EC entered into force.

and:

IP/10/1324
Brussels, 13 October 2010
Offshore oil drilling: European Commission
envisages EU safety rules
The European Commission for the very first time envisages comprehensive
EU legislation on oil platforms aimed at ensuring the highest safety
standards in the world. In the Communication on the safety of oil and gas
activities the Commission contemplates new EU standards, including criteria
for granting drilling permits, controls of the rigs and safety control
mechanisms.
Günther Oettinger, Commissioner for Energy, said: "Safety is non negotiable. We
have to make sure that a disaster similar to the one in the Gulf of Mexico will never
happen in European waters. This is why we propose that best practices already
existing in Europe will become the standard throughout the European Union."
