The tragedy Bananiot, is that very few are left in this island with enough emotional intelligence to see behind the words..These so called patriots are simply a mirror of the largest part of our society..unfortunately..

Now that is a very good question that I have tried to answer for a very long time.

My grandfathers side are rather of a very light complexion. So I would exclude any Arab/Strian connection. My grandmother does have high cheekbones which would indicate a Turkish extraction, but is is her that has many GC relatives. They acknowledge their conversion to Greek Orthodoxy some years ago. My father would play with them whilst they still used they Islamic names. They are also Yfreds relatives (by marriage). Their village nicknames were Greco-Latin. Different to establish which. The family trees were writen behing a wardrobe door in the village, but was lost in 1963. During my next visit, I will be digging deeper. The land registry has come up with a few 'names' that I never heard of before. It is a geneologists nightmare to be honest.
