We never tried to fool you. 2004 was the first referendum we had the chance to vote for. If you asked us in 1959 with a referendum we would have rejected those racist undemocratic agreements as well. Unfortunately instead of the people of Cyprus being asked to democratically decide the destiny of their own island, you take our leaders and you blackmail them behind closed doors forcing them to make compromises on basic democratic and human rights that should never been made. Don't expect the Cypriot people to ever agree on such things.There is nothing wrong with the majority of Cypriots identifying with a Greek ethnic heritage...The trouble begins when you politicise that heritage,and try to exclude others from full membership of a Cypriot nation...Cyprus is Greek implies all those without that identity can only be Cypriots in name only... Or it means they can be as Cypriot as the GCs allow them to feel...Think about it...
We never tried to exclude anybody. It is the same for your minority in Cyprus as it is for the Greek minority in Turkey.
Cyprus is Hellenic, and in the same way you have several Slavic countries or several Arabic countries, or several Turkic countries, you also have 2 Hellenic countries.
This doesn't mean that every single citizen of every Slavic/Arabic/Turkic country must me a Slav/Arab/Turk. This is obviously not the case. Those countries are Slavic/Arabic/Turkic because this is what the majority of the population is. The vast majority of the population of Cyprus is now and for 1000s of years Hellenic, which makes Cyprus a Hellenic island. As simple as that and no different at all from the other examples I mentioned.
