All the killed and missing should be remembered whether GC/Armenian or TC.

Daniella, thank you for that information, from the "Turkish Camp", on some monetary contribution to the CMP which I'm sure will be welcome.

But, what I was pointing out to halil, had more to do with Turkey's refusal to supply any information to the ECHR/RoC as to the whereabouts of the many GCs which it took away, alive, and have not been seen since.

An extract from a letter by some relatives of these missing, which might make things clearer ...

Also missing are many civilians: men, women and children who were rounded up by the Turkish army from their own homes and villages but never released.

Turkey ignores UN, EU and Council of Europe resolutions calling for an end to this humanitarian problem. Refuses even to comply with the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (Appl. No; 25781/94-10 May 2001) and interim resolutions by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe backing the Court’s decision.

In recent months the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) in Cyprus has been reactivated under the aegis of the UN Secretary-General, and progress, albeit slow, has been made with exhumation and identification of remains of both Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot Missing Persons. This progress was achieved through the constructive cooperation of both communities on this purely humanitarian issue.

We do consider this development as a step in the right direction. However, the effective investigations demanded by the ECHR judgment cannot be limited to exhumations, and the investigations cannot be limited only in Cyprus. Turkey must provide information about the fate of all those who disappeared following their arrest by the Turkish army and many of them subsequently been removed to Turkey as can be certified by international organisations such as the ICRC, who interview them.

Turkey must also provide information on the fate and whereabouts of as many as thirty children that were abducted during the invasion but were never released. One such case is of Christakis Georgiou, aged five at the time, for whom recent evidence (a Turkish army memorandum) clearly indicate that he was moved to Turkey for hospital treatment, but as yet his family do not know his fate.

The ECHR found Turkey guilty “for violating the right of their relatives not to be subjected to inhumane and degrading treatment, whilst searching for news of their loved ones”. How more cruel the violation of the right of the relatives whose loved one happened to have been moved to Turkey?

The problem of Missing Persons of Cyprus, as a direct result of the Turkish invasion, can not conclusively be resolved without the cooperation of the Turkish Government. We hope that you and our UK Government, would be sensitive to our pain and agony, and will adopt the necessary policies towards the Turkish Government so that it can be persuaded to provide the long overdue answers, by initiating appropriate investigations as demanded by the Court, without any further delay.

And from today's "The Economist"

"... Turkey also refuses to reveal the fate (read - remains) of the 1619 missing Cypriots from its 1974 invasion..."

Who thought up the slogan? Sounds like Zan's work. Are you going to fool anyone into sympathising because you are "Christian" now? 'Bloody Christmas'! Bloody Imperialist racist Muslims more like.

I don't think anyone will care for your 50-year old lies when the truth of what the Turk-TCs had planned, Neo-Ottoman Apartheid, is staring the EU in the face - today!

How do you square the ethnic cleansing you practice?

70 Million bloody belligerent Turks against 800,000 Christian EU-citizens. Ba ba humbug!

Christian my arse. Most of Europe is currently boardering on Atheism. The only reason why Cyprus is still so caught up with our brand of christianity is because Ottoman oppression managed to equate it with our national identity for centuries.

I don't credit such a simplistic pro-Turk doctrine with any value. After all, belief in Gods has been the mainstay of our culture for thousands upon thousands of years, and long before the spawning of the Turks.

And by your same token, please explain how come 95% of Malta (even higher than Cyprus) have retained their brand of Christianity without the help of Ottoman oppression?

As for the levels of atheism in Europe, I did not comment on that since it's something difficult to quantify.

Danni, dont be silly, Turkey miserly $50,000 is a drop in the ocean, she doesn't need to give any blood money she just needs to tell the CMP WHERE THE BODIES ARE, AS SHE KNOWS FULL WELL THEIR LOCATIONS.

Word of advice from me too -

Don't let crap like that (which seems to get circulated by the O fanclub to all new(ish) members who DARE to disagree with this unpleasant woman) put you off posting on the forum.

It needs MORE people who won't let her chase them off the forum with her hate posts - not less. It is becoming a very dreary place and even O must be feeling the strain of trying to keep it going with her inane efforts that have been repeated over and over and over again in all her many different forum IDs.

Poor Oracle now seeks help from her pal Piratis. We do not see or hear from her mate Piratis when all the abuse Oracle throws in the direction of T/TCs do we? What a well balanced forum we have and NO I will NOT leave if I dont like it.
