How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

2011: "The Turkish Cypriot Year in Turkey"

Postby lola-tulip » Mon Dec 13, 2010 11:55 pm

Where are you going for your holiday next year? :)

If you are one of our 'Turkish Cypriot Compatriots' you will most likely be going to Turkey. If you are Turkish, you will most likely be going to Turkish Occupied Cyprus (ToC). This, by order of Turkey!

Turkey to promote Turkish Cyprus tourism

Turkish and Turkish Cypriot governments are set to sign an agreement to proclaim 2011 as "The Turkish Cypriot Year in Turkey" in a bid to promote tourism industry on the island's north, Turkish Cypriot prime minister has said.

The Turkish Cypriot premier said country's new flag carrier airlines company would be established on Thursday

Kucuk said 60 percent of the new air carrier's shares would be held by the government, 30 percent by the government and 10 percent be owned by Turkish Airlines, or THY, Turkey's state-run carrier.

Doesn't sound that they really know what it is that they are talking about.! :?

Turkey has been in the north since 1974 and if the Turks of Turkey are not wishing to come to the north since then, no amount of enticement is going to make them come now. Lets face it, the Turks see us the TCs as uncultured peasants who has bastardised their Turkish language. Besides, Turkey has far more to offer to the Turks than the north would, and it's cheaper in Turkey than the north also.!

Perhaps it is all owned by the T. government [ - in Swiss Bank accounts] :)

- This is coming after recent announcements of record falls in profits by Turkish Airlines as well as Turkey's economy.

Yes, it's all the rage in China too:

China placed Turkey among European countries as a tourism destination in 2010 although Turkey was placed in Middle Eastern and African catalogues in the past.

In an exclusive interview with the AA, Culture Attache at the Turkish Embassy in Beijing, Ilknur Yigit, said that Turkey allocated the greatest amount of funds for tourism promotion for China among all other Asia Pacific countries.

This great amount of funds shows the importance Turkey attaches to China. We will soon open a tourism office in Shanghai, Yigit said.

In 2010, we began marketing Turkey in European and Mediterranean destinations.

We are developing Turkey-Greece package as an Aegean product in tourism. Further, we are working on promoting Morocco-Turkey-Tunisia as a Mediterranean package in tourism, Yigit said.

Thanks to Turkish Airlines' flights to Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, Turkey will be placed in various other packages, Yigit underlined.

We have been promoting Turkish tourism in China for the past decade. As of now, we want to participate in fairs on congresses, golf and honeymoon, Yigit said.

Turkey successfully hosts many important organizations, forums and sports events.

In August, 2010, Turkey will host the "2010 World Basketball Championship". Turkey and China are playing in the same group. We will erect large TV screens in most populated centers of China so that the Turkey-China basketball game is watched by thousands of people and Turkey gets promoted, Yigit said.

In 2009, 69,336 Chinese tourists visited Turkey. We want to increase the number of Chinese tourists visiting Turkey, Yigit also said.

The year 2012 will be celebrated in Turkey as "the Year of China".

The year 2013 will be celebrated in China as "the Year of Turkey".

Surely no one here is daft enough to think that Turkey is not among the most popular holiday destinations? Just because they don't wish to visit it!

And it has benefitted from its exclusion from the Eurozone as far as tourism is concerned.

Turkey was europes leading holiday destination in 2010...and anyone who has ever been to TRNC will see that the majority of the visitors are from Turkey, UK, and RoC funnily enough...

For the sake of Get Real (cos I know he will go on and on about credible evidence and research...and please dont forget I am a business analyst for a MNE travel firm):
http://www.allbusiness.com/transportati ... 650-1.html

Turkish Airlines actually recorded a 3 quarter net profit of $169m USD, with a 39% increase on sales revenue, on just 22.7% increase in passenger numbers...This to me shows that THY have managed to add value to their services, and a figure which will undoubtedly rise thanks to the new corporate advertising and sponsorship programs linked to Manchester United Football Club, FC Barcelona, EuroLeague Basketball and many other high interest corporate entities. Lets also not forget that now as a member of Star Allianz they also provide one of the highest level service standards among the worlds carriers. In 2010 they won best southern europe airline and best onboard catering globally...not quite the gloomy picture you have all painted....RESEARCH & CREDIBLE EVIDENCE...lol sorry i couldnt help it...a joke for Get Real which I am sure he will visit this page :)
