theg, turkish are making the 50% of the muslim population in thrace, about the 1/4 of the total population and they are not locals, ottoman empire brought them, like the settlers that modern turkey brought in cyprus. I spent some time there, and i can tell you that after 1992 when the racist curtains that the old greek right-wing state that had created stopped to exist, they are getting all the benefits but their minds are so primitive that they will want the girls to stay at home, not to send their children at school, not to get any education and they only care to make childrens. Each family has 5-6 children and they do not care to educate them. The have free admissin in Greek unis but they never send their children on the Unis bcoz it is their asian mentality like that. If they do not like it they can go back where they belong since they are not natives but settlers. It would be like asking from british living in greece to make a referndum or the turks living in germany.

The good thing is that the young turks in thrakia have starte realizing what is going and they are gettin westernized and civilized, they have abandoned their muslim culture and they act like real european citizens and they gotta stay like that. they can speak turks but they are in european land not in asia. If they dont like it they can go back from where they came from, in the end none invite them to come and settle in the balkans. The only native there are the pomaks who although they are muslims they are using many paganist symbols, they love Orpheus and they are a quite unique slavonic, so they do not have anything to do with the turks.

Absolutely offensive and ridiculous. Your remarks about the turkish people in Western Thrace are outrageous. And besides these people are not SETTLERS, they were born on this land, and back countless generations they have always belonged to this land. My gradnparents had cousins who used to grow tobacco in ths south, which is now in Greece, but their own land was ILLEGALLY taken from them, and all these people were ILLEGALLY deported to Turkey. I have Bulgarian friends now living in Varna, who too were illegally deported from Northern Greece. Western Thrace belongs to the people who live there, regardless whether they are greek or turkish, and any attempt to deport them from their own land is illegal. You greeks continue to amaze me with your primitive menatality and failure to embrace any kind of diversity in your own country. I would think you would have learned something from being in the EU. I agree the mentality of the Turks in Turkey is very primitive, but I cant say yours is much different. You have failed every test of civility that you claim to uphold so highly. Shame on you!

What? He said it was good they were giving up their Muslim culture, I've got to say I agree with him, Islam puts every concievable obstacle in the way of women, it relegates them to second class status.

turkish policy wants to make 'turk' every muslim in Thrache including Pomaks, Gipsies, Greek Muslims and a small minority of ppl who came from North Africa from emperor Vasilios Bulgaroktonos.

Look can you explain me how come a settler is a native? Probably the turkish settlers took the land from the locals and when Trache was liberated this land went back to the legitimate owners.

They were also Greeks in Bulgaria, there was a population exchange and in addition, why dont u ask yer friends what did they do in WW2 and you may understand why they were kicked out from Greece.
