Riots in Parliament Square.

Postby Schnauzer » Fri Dec 10, 2010 1:09 am

Not wishing to clutter the 'Political' boards, I thought the student riots which are taking place right now in London, might be worth a comment here on 'General Chat'.

In 'Parliament Square', there stands a statue to 'Nelson Mandela' which was recently erected in his honour and to commemorate his 90th birthday.

What is lesser known is the fact that, up to the time of his 'Honouring' at a function attended by Her Majesty the Queen, 'Nelson Mandela' was still listed as a 'Terrorist' in the archives of the C.I.A. in America and it was a source of great embarrassment to George Bush that a hurriedly prepared 'Change' had to be made days prior to the 'Honouring Ceremonies'.

The statue itself depicts 'Nelson Mandela' in a pose that would suggest that he is about to grab hold of something, it occurred to me that the 'Something' might well be one of the ''White Students' protesting about how unfair they are being treated by the British government as they riot in 'Parliament Square, after all, it is not TOO long ago (in political terms) that the 'Great Man' (as he is now generally referred to by those who earnestly wish to erase the past) would gladly have strangled any 'White Person' that fell into his grasp.

The hands of the statue DO look poised to strike, one wonders who the next 'Ex-Terrorist' will be to receive the honour of a commemorative statue.

May I suggest 'Osama bin Laden. ?

 I think you'll find the British coalition government is not discriminating against any ethnic group in terms of their ridiculous policy regarding increased student fees.....white, brown, black, yellow, green or blue - give us your money 'cos that's all that matters. As far as our airhead PM goes - Thatcher's child fulfills Thatcher's dream - the death of 'society' - every (wo)man for her/himself from now on.....and shame on them, the LibDems played their part too....

I hope I did not create the impression that I WAS suggesting that the British Government was racially discriminatory in it's enactment of the 'Student Grants' policies.

What struck me as quite poignant was the fact that, under the shadow of a 'One Time Terrorist's Statue', the youth of a nation were struggling to ensure that their future prospects would not be blighted by the same dogged reluctance to heed public opinion as Nelson Mandela experienced in his early days of struggle.

Though the causes were totally different, the 'Doggedness' was the same.

Nelson Mandela was criminalised in opposition yet overly 'Honoured' (IMHO) when he became 'One of the Boys'.

It's a good job somebody noticed his 'Terrorist' status in time, the prospect of a statue of one listed as a 'Terrorist', would hardly be conducive to good taste outside the 'Houses of Parliament.
