Do the GCs really want to get rid of the TA?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Me Ed » Mon Dec 06, 2010 11:53 am

Here we go again.

Every thread decending into moral relativism full of recriminations about the past that whilst important add absolutely nothing constructive in sorting the insuing situation.

VP has recently been asking questions about GC help and support in removing non-Cypriot influences in the occupied area and asking for some "out of the box" thinking on the subject.

In light of recent developments in the north, VP could be asking genuine and sincere requests for help and support to the TCs or this could be some attempt to expose a percieved lack of support from the RoC towards the TCs.

I for one am willing to give VP the benefit of the doubt and will happily stick to the thread and engage in constructive debates on moving this forward.

In my opinion, I think that Turkey has gone to great lengths to ensure that it is very difficult for the RoC to offer support to the TCs going forward and I agree with VP that it will require some "out of the box" thinking and big steps to sort this out.

As a T/C I must say that traveling around Northern Cyprus and looking at barbed wired fences and barracks in great locations for development all over Northern Cyprus is not a very nice sight for anyone. Although the current situation (settlement has not been reached) and the idea of Turkey to pack up a leave is not going to happen so any TA reduction is certainly not on the horizon. But if I had some say would like to see it tone down a little.

As a GC I can tell you that I haven't heard a single GC say that the Greek army did the right thing when it left Cyprus in 1967. In fact, almost every one is grumbling about the removal of the army.

I have a lot of respect for TC's who, like me and people that think like me, want the removal of all armies and the complete demilitarisation of this small island.

Demilitarisation is for wussy-states seeking a master. We should choose to be the masters of ourselves.

At last someone with a brain, who can at least consider the thought of taking steps that will force everyones hand but again all have are those who play into the hands of both Turkey and the 'RoC' this is what they want and unfortunately the majority are stupid enough to continue to play the same game. Its been 7 years since the 'RoC' had the opportunity to promote union and ween the TCs off the Turkish financial breast but all they do is continue with the same ideology which has not solved anything.

What has your separatist ideology and leadership produced. We know that we have been invaded by Turkey at request of the TC community. We have asked for help from the international community we are not getting it. We have put forth proposals that will build trust and respect and give the TC community an opportunity to participate in rebuilding the Country and YOU the TC's have knocked it back. If your idea of giving more is to say its okay you called the invader in, you ave taken our lands under threat and you can keep it ..... FORGET IT ;) have a nice occupied time
