And that's the way it should be and with no time frames. May explain why Eroglu wants time frames, so that he can stall the talks to expire the time, just so to dissolve what has been agreed on by Talat and Christofias. I don't think he will get the chance. The only thing he can do, is to walk away from the negotiation table. Lets see what he will do to combat the already agreed Power sharing, if anything. My guess is, Eroglu is trapped and can't walk away, or else he would lose the agreed Rotating Presidency and the 50,000 settlers becoming Cypriot Citizens. He needs the Rotating Presidency more than anything else, therefore, he needs to protect that while trying to undermine the rest of the negotiations so to favour Turkey and not the Cypriots or the RoC.

January sounds like a disguised deadline to me and many others.

I'm waiting for the punchline.!

No punchline BankiMoon slapped them about a bit and told them to get their act together for the end of January 2011, isnt that a dealine?

I'm sure they will get more "slapping" in January also.!

This is going to drag on until after the Turkish elections in Turkey and the MP's elections in the RoC, 2011, because no one wants to be seen as being "capitulated" to the other side before these elections.

I dont agree I think something will give prior to the elections as the UN do not want this to go on for another 3 4 5 6 years.

Just another 6 months or so. It doesn't need to be years. Besides, the UN has no choice but to play along. What else can they do, other than pull the UN troops out.??

I agree that the port/s issue will be high on the agenda at this moment, because both parties will need to do something to shine a light to the international community that reunification of Cyprus is progressing. Then the negotiations can keep continuing. I just find it hard to see that if nothing happens for the next 6 months that anyone will take these negotiations seriously. Although they have not been taken seriously for many years now.

That has already been proposed, to have Famagusta port to be opened under EU supervision for direct trade for the north while Turkey opens her ports to the RoC at the same time. Last time Turkey said "NO" and this time I do not expect anything less before the elections takes place in Turkey next year.!

Definitive evidence that Kiakpu is NOT a GC or he would’ve said… “Varosi” or ‘Varosha”!

Mind you he could be Venetian...

I said for it to be returned to it's rightful owners, and the rightful owners call it Verosa, even if it's misspelled !
