CytaVision woes…

If your CytaVision access went crazy from yesterday evening (8-9pm) it’s because someone/something has tapped into the old RF #64 (causing horizontal line interference and then the picture gone altogether) and we now need to move to a new number I am told by tech staff.

For Nicosia, it’s any one of these numbers until it works…

33
36
66
69
22

Via… Alt + P > Preferences > TV System & Audio Settings > Channel > etc

But I haven’t managed to get this to work! Has anyone been successful? :?

CyTA have an ad in the Cyprus Mail this morning explaining all this.

Clever CyTA have it only in Greek, so that will be a lot of help to most CM readers!

Is this problem only in Nicosia? I didn't have any problem with CytaVision.

I'm not sure, but it seems that you are connecting through your antenna to get Cytavision. A permanent solution would be to connect via a scart or RCA plugs. You may want to check out that option. The only problem I have is the running man. Every time I have to restart he runs in place. This guy must be the hardest working civil servant in Cyprus! But in typical fashion he runs fast, but doesn't go anywhere.

OK ... that makes sense... I was trying to figure out what RF has to do with Cytavision! I use component for the video and SPDIF for the sound. RF Out should not be used unless you have no other option.

Yes, I was feeding the signal into the antenna mixer and thus distributing it to 12 aerial points around the house!

Ah well, I have to go get the scart and see if I can do things differently!

Maybe you can use an external RF modulator? I don't they are expensive.

How to change the RF Channel output

You may change the RF output Channel of the STB if there is a conflict with a TV station in your area.

This can be done with the following procedure:

* Unplug the Ethernet cable.
* Unplug the power cable of the STB and then Plug it back on.
* Wait until the following message appears: "[STB 0001] Could not obtain IP address".
* Using the keyboard, press ALT+P
* Using the arrow keys select: "TV system and audio setting", and press Enter
* Using the arrow keys select RF channel and delete the selected channel using the backspace.
* Insert the channel number that you want
* Go to Save changes and hit return
* Plug the Ethernet cable back on.
* Reboot ( power off & on)
