Ever since Davut's book on his visions of Neo Ottomman grandeur was published here last year, scores of Greek commentators have been writing glowing comments about Turkeish diplomacy. In the end it seems the Turks are no different than other Balkanites, well not on all things anyway. The Turks manage to have infinite cynicism and accept as normal such things as multiple swiss accounts and other vices in their leaders and keep their mouths shut.

This wikileaks thing is a lot bigger than it looks. Cannot wait for all the documents to be revealed.

I was seriously contemplating starting another thread wıth a huge 'revelation' such as "Turkey has renamed Constantinople Istanbul - shock, horror", but thought the better of it.

I have started reading Hanef Avcı's book. Now these are indeed revelations, even though nothing comes as a great surprise. I think this book will interest you if you can hold of it 'down under'.

Thanks,Tim...My sister is visiting us from Ankara for the New Year, she will bring a copy...I am looking forward to reading it...

I have just found the whole book on the net, in fact:

Well worth a look, I would say. Something useful to do while these twerps here keep amazing us with 'revelations' that have been the subject of conversation in every coffee house in Turkey for years.

Ripe for Civil War in Turkey, methinks! :D

The AKP imprisoning all the Ergenekronies and then the Military's stoogies couping the AKP!

Followed with a PKK and KKP uprising and ...

Bingo! :D

Brilliant analysis. Please keep these insights coming and we lesser mortals may finally learn something about Turkey.

Overdoing it a little with the pomposity aren't we? Not everyone can read Turkish (seeing as this book you're talking about is in Turkish makes it pretty useless to the mere mortals that skipped that class in high school). The entire planet is finding these revelations fascinating or is that the time you've spent in Turkey has also given you access to the room when US and Turkish diplomats meet?

I take it you stumble across US officials accussing the Turkish PM of corruption every day of your life. Of course you do, you're Tim! The Turkish English translator!

I also take it you come across US officials commenting on the intelligence isolation the Turkish PM has had. Off course you do! You're Tim the Turkish translator!

May I also assume that the up to now considered genius Davutoglou by Turkish allies and foes and which has recently been labelled by US diplomats as an Ottoman bungling anachromism of a politician was also in your knowledge......Off course it was....You're Tim.

I don't usually rant over people I don't know but this guy has pushed the whole Turkish Intelligensia persona too far.
