Would UN implement an agreed Cyprob solution?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Would UN implement an agreed Cyprob solution?

Postby georgios100 » Sun Nov 28, 2010 12:01 am

Let's assume the talks produced a solution which got approved via a referendum between the 2 communities.

My questions are;

1. Is UN going to actually implement the conditions of the solution?

2. What is the projected number of years for full implementation?

3. From which country/organization would the military observers come from, to co-ordinate/supervise the security part of the solution (removal of troops, reduction of armies, dismantle of military bases/housing etc)?

4. How soon a general election is scheduled under the BBF provisions?

5. What steps are taken and by whom to resolve possible non compliance from both sides (civilians relocating, property repossesion, settler deportation etc.

Under the Annan plan, was there provisions set out to address all of the above?

In the most unlikely event that every single GC has simultaneously bumped his head resulting in a serious concussion, memory loss, and permanent disorientation, that the RoC in unison signs away territory to Ankara… [insert 800,000 smileys in here] …wouldn’t most if not all of what you’re asking be part of such a suicidal plan? :lol:

We just don't know what is being negotiated (including the land/property issue).

My questions have to do with a post negotiation stage, no matter what is agreed upon.

I think that all the things that you mentioned would be in any negotiated and agreed agreement, so the answer lies in the future (maybe).

As for the past, you can download the Annan Plan from here http://www.hri.org/docs/annan/Annan_Plan_Text.html
and look up the answers yourself.
