You implement the Ankara Protocol and you make a major step towards joining the EU - thats what you get in return.

All4114All wrote:Turkey has stated many times open the ports in the North for direct trade/flights and the South will get it's flagged vessels/aircrafts to be allowed why not do a deal?

Again the deal is that you implement the Ankara Protocol and you join the EU.The Cyprus issue is an issue for the Cypriots.

All4114All wrote:The Ankara protocol is according to the Republic Of Cyprus well Turkey doesn't recognise RoC so why should it implement the protocol.

Stop being foolish, your just cutting of your nose to spite your face in relation to joing the EU.

All4114All wrote:Maybe EU should of thought about all this before accepting RoC into the EU not crying afterwards please implement the protocol.

Don't be so naive, we are not crying, we are simply trying to help you in your path to joining the EU - take it or leave it.

EU EU EU thats all I am hearing mate I don't know if you been watching the news but EU is not a really good place to be at the moment. Turkey is still moving with or without the EU.

EU considers insufficient progress in promoting democracy and respect for minorities.
Erdogan response to rejection: without Turkey, the EU is nothing.
There is a proverb that states: when a person is unable to reach a cluster of grapes is because it is too high then says it's unripe.

Beyond the statements of Erdogan, probably dictated also by disappointment, and a sort of national pride in front of another semi-failure, there are two facts.
On the one hand, the European Union is a global player tout court, with or without Turkey, and that that is, at present, a country not yet ready for membership, from many points of view.
In addition to the Cyprus problem is added the fact that the construction of the Ilisu Dam, the hydroelectric mega-project (Guneydogu Anadolu Projesi) is ravaging the Kurdish community.
The turkish government has entrusted the project to a consortium led by the Swiss company Sulzer Hydro, which in turn subcontracted to another consortium of Balfour Beatty English, by Italy's Impregilo, the Swedish Skanska, and the Swiss ABB Power Generation Sulzer Hydro and three Turkish companies.
At present The Swedish company Skanska, which held 24% of the project, has recently withdrawn precisely because of the impact this would have on social and environmental impacts, while the British government, initially in favor, now is contrary to the expressed different positions inside, even after the pressure exerted by several civil society organizations.
The European community warns that the Ilisu dam megaproject includes a risk factor in security policy. Syria and Iraq, whose border is 65 miles away, have protested vigorously.

They fear, may damage water quality and quantity for their countries (but a war over water is the last thing needed in that region already in crisis)
Recently, the British company Balfour Beatty and the Italian Impregilo withdrew from the controversial project on the Tigris River, after a study of the environmental sustainability of July 2001 as a result rather than negative.
Are now part of the Ilisu project almost exclusively Turkish companies.
Sure Turkey is going without EU

The Ankara Protocol must be implemented. We have to make progress in this matter. I will visit THE ROC at the beginning of 2011 and try to do what I can on this matter, Merkel said.

The big question is who is Merkel? I have an aunt under this name-are you speaking about my aunt?
