When will the talks end?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby johbee » Wed Nov 24, 2010 12:56 pm

I really don't see what all the talk is about. It's pretty clear that Turkey invaded an independent country in 1974 and continues to occupy that country. The UN has specified many times what needs to be done. Turkey needs to pull out of Cyprus. If any Turkish Cypriots wish to remain they will be welcomed and treated with respect. If not then they have the right to protest to the legitimate government of Cyprus. The harsh reality however is that the EU does not want a settlement of the Cyprus invasion since they will use the excuse of Cyprus to keep Turkey out of the EU. Once again Cyprus is being used as a pawn.

I'm not sure if it can end now, since a referendum was promised on any proposed solution which both communities would have to agree to. It's difficult, after all this time, to imagine any solution that will satisfy both communities.

ErrorGlue? If you mean Eroğlu, well, I must say, this is the most interesting Eroğlu description I have ever seen

Looks like the TCs are stuck with him.

Oh, looky! Jerry made a joke! :D A rather super one.

No more, 'the Bore'; bring forth, Jerry the Joker!

Anyway, looks like Eroglu has been telling porkies, again, and trying to get more shopping trips to New York to raise his "profile" as an International traveller:

"The president rejected “whisperings” circulating that Ban supposedly proposed four or five-party talks in New York. It was Eroglu who made the proposal which Ban and Christofias both rejected, saying that an international conference would be discussed when the conditions were right. He added that Ban had given an “objective” assessment of the talks so far.
“I say that to clarify things, because sometimes when I read things I question whether I was there at the meeting with the UNSG and Mr Eroglu,” said Christofias. "

Probably the only “Turkish Cypriot” out of the hundreds I’ve met on this forum, with a good head on his shoulders!

Cyprus has not had a 'legitimate' government since December 1963...
The present RoC government is as legitimate as is Turkey's present 'pre'-occupation of Cyprus...
